Hmmm, so I think this is as close to a fully original episode devoid of obvious easter eggs to the rest of the franchise that we've ever had. The whe plot was built around elements that LD itself set up and TBH I'm vibing with all of it. I sure didn't have "Shipping Peanut Hamper and AGIMUS" on my bingo card for this one
I don'r eally care for Badgey or Peanut Hamper. It was funny the first time, but it's gotten too silly. I was really liking the lore. I liked the Binars, I'm ready to see what's going on with this mystery ship. Jeffery Combs was good though.
I know somebody here called the "they're not destroying the ships, it's a transporter beam" thing, but now I can't find the post.
I thought it might a V'ger type thing, where they got uploaded. They love their callbacks, and something TMP-y might appear
I enjoyed it enough, but I don't think it was a top notch ep, and it gets bonus points for ending the Badgey plot.
OK, haven't seen it yet, TV Tropes didn't mention that bit. I'd have assumed Goodgey was a more likely victim.
With Season 5 likely to be the final season, I should hope they wouldn't waste time like that. I didn't hate that this was revisited but there's definitely not enough material for a third Badgey episode.
Ok, that one was silly but nice. Nice to see Delta Shift get a moment. That scene just looked painful
I really enjoyed this episode. Some great moments. I know nothing is definitive yet, but it seems like they are taking steps to wrap this show up.
It feels like they've transitioned from rapid-fire dialogue and Trek references to trying to be more of a lighthearted show that stands on its own two feet. Both versions of the show are good but I tend to think I like the old rapid-pace style more. I also think that they have noticeably mellowed Mariner out from the S1-2 version. Which is good, but I hate that it gives the anti-woke people something to pat themselves on the back over.
Agreed... The fact that they aren't spending much time together anymore and are put in command of others seems like they are moving away from the "Lower Decks" theme of the show... but the thought occurs to me that episode 9 & 10 is coming up and they usually do something epic. What if they get busted back down to Ensigns? That would be a very "Trek" thing to do.
it'd fit with the end of ST IV... and the whale probe is in the opening credits... I think you may have just called it
I thought that was a nice episode. The aging cave made me seriously laugh out loud. Did anyone else notice how Mariner gained weight and their tits sagged when they got older?
So, this episode made me think of all of the cave episodes of Star Trek that involve caves and just off the top of my head: The one where Kirk is replaced by an android by Chapel's ex The one where Odo meets the main founder who's pretending to be Kira The one where Picard is injured in a cave with Wesley The one where Data's head is found in a cave The one where Worf Jadzia and Kor retrieve the sword of Kaless The one where Sisko and Dukat are stuck in a cave The one where Harry and Tom are replaced by clones The one where Trip is hallucinating in a cave The one where Archer meets T'Pau The one where Picard is captured by Cardasians The one where Archer meets the Aenar The one where Jadzia visits the pools on Trill The one where what's her name visits the pool on Trill The one where Geordi and the the Romulan get stuck in a cave. The one where Spock mind melds with that silicone based life form. I'm sure there's more, but I can't think of any more.
The one where Tom and Neelix babysit the baby dinosaur. The one where the Vidiians steal Neelix's lungs. The one where the Vidiians split B'Lanna into Klingon and human clones. The one where the Crystalline Entity eats the girl-of-the-week Riker is flirting with, and they have to hide in a cave for a bit. The one with Data's mom, and he finds out she's an android when she falls in the cave, and and breaks her arm off.
