Also, why the hell do the character models for Kira, Quark and Martok look like they did in the series, when this is set 30 years later?! Worf has had his appearance tweaked to match "future Worf from AGT" - so has Nog. I can get that Odo doesn't "age", but c'mon.

The Voyager cast got pretty much the same deal:

But not Tom Paris, who signed on later:

Nog is officially confirmed, but we all knew that was coming.

Jeffrey Coombs is coming back as both Brunt and Weyoun! :hyper:

I played all six available episodes of ViL on my main last night. Holy crap! This is what Delta Rising should have been. It is probably tempered by my fondness for the voice actors, but this is the best writing STO has ever had. Some of the new maps are very clever, but pathing still sucks for NPC's.

Didn't last long - hit a bug on the "Renegade's Regret" mission where there's no dialog option to talk to the Renegade Captain... not much help on the STO forums either, as per usual.

Bugs like that can usually be fixed by beaming up to your ship, waiting 30-45 seconds for the instance to close, and clicking the button to go back into a new instance. But, I didn't really enjoy that mission all that much. Unless there is a reward you want, just skip it and play the ViL stuff. The next to last mission is the most fun I've ever had in STO and that's including the last episode of the Iconian War arc which was the first truly huge space battle the game had ever had.

They patched it as the usual workarounds didn't matter - I agree it doesn't seem an interesting mission (commit genocide) but it gives insight into what will be (I assume) a recurring ally.

I've played the ViL missions now up to the end of Quark's Lucky Seven which was awesome. Revisiting some old DS9 storylines is interesting - be good to see where the new Orb comes into it. Also good that Kira and Odo aren't immediately back on lovebird terms. Would have been awesome if they'd gotten Brooks back as Sisko but he seems content to be out of acting these days.

Ok, can someone explain something to me? I was thinking of returning to the game to play the four years of content I missed so looked to pay for a month but all it now offers me is a lifetime subscription for £220! Fuck that. I googled and apparently they no longer do monthlies. So can I no longer get my old status back unless I buy a lifetime jobbie?

If you had an account, the extra bank, ship and character spaces should still be unlocked, you just don't get any more "pay-only" stuff which is not a huge amount IIRC. I cancelled my sub ages ago and haven't suffered any for it - you can always directly buy anything you fancy anyway.

So bacially it’s gone premium perk model and I have what I used to have by virtue of being a sub? So I should be able to just play and grind as I used to?

"Home", the resolution of the ViL cliffhanger after ep6 is now out and it's a helluva grind, though emotionally satisfying. Took a good half-hour or so to finish. Won't spoil too much but the mission plays with the possibility of a major character dying with the final section titled "sacrifice" - in fact, there's even a bit in the cutscene where your own character takes a bad hit and collapses that made me jump for a moment, but needless to say it ain't you that bites it.

Dunno where the rest of ViL is going as this mission ties everything up quite nicely.

The final ground portion was entertaining for me. I play bunker engineer (Turrets, Mortars, Generators, and Mines) with four bunker engineer BOFF's. The mass carnage from that kind of DPS in a static position was glorious. I can certainly see how playing it on a Tac or crowd control Sci with a mixed BOFF layout could be challenging.

The 10th anniversary mission features Picard-era Seven of Nine, Michael Burnham, and the long awaited return of Space Lincoln.

No, he doesn't call Michael a negress. :(

Yes, the ending choked me up slightly, because I'm a simp.

    Oh, it got me too.

I bought a lifetime subscription and created my first toon on launch day. So, my main turned ten years old.

USS Lexington heading out on her next mission.

Mainly just to see if I can get @Forbin 's blood pressure to spike or an eye to twitch...

So is this game any good? I'm not an MMO fan by any stretch. Can it be played solo or not?

Ratings on this one tend to just slightly above middlin'. Can you play in any era, or is it 25th century only?

The only Trek games I REALLY liked were Bridge Commander (and that one has almost no replayability value), and the shooter from the mid-2000's, whose name escapes me right now. I played The Fallen as well, but didn't love it.

I've also played a couple of the strategy games, and found them lacking. Oddly enough, one of the Trek games I enjoyed most was a fan-made adaptation of FASA's Starship combat simulator, made for the computer.
