Jeri Ryan doesn't bode well, but otherwise an awesome trailer! (VOY and ENT are not part of my head-canon )
Fuck me running... this looks awesome! Not sure how they will come out, I did screen caps from my phone. The Borg ship looks like it took damage at some point. Seven (Jeri Ryan) still looks hot, and at 51. I've got an injection tubule with its own nanites to assimilate her with. Looks like the de-aging trick was used on Data (Spiner) for the shot. ENGAGE!
Watched the trailer a couple of times, I think I may know who that girl is. But I'll need to get some screen captures to check.
And yes, Picard's dog is named "Number One". I love would to see Picard start off this way. But I know it won't, and would probably piss off a lot of people. We see Picard walking with his dog though his vineyard. Going through his daily routine. He finishes his day by have some dinner with a glass of wine. We have dinner flashbacks, with the Captain Picard day poster among other shots being shown. We then see Picard sleeping with his dog on his bed. Cuts to a side shot of Picard, with Q next to him. Picard wakes up, asks Q what the hell he's doing there. Q tells Picard that the game isn't over. Q then looks at Picard's dog and says "Well, I suppose it's been long enough.", snaps his fingers, there's a Q flash on Picard's dog, and then we see Riker appear.
My guess: they are sticking with Voyager having destroyed the Borg, and the entire collective collapsed. The incident that led Picard to leave Starfleet was related to how they were dealing with Borg refugees as an influx arrived. It is interesting to imagine how they would deal with de-Borgified individuals in large numbers. Who has jurisdiction over them? I could see Starfleet refusing to get involved with Romulans capturing a dormant cube and holding its crew, despite many of the drones being former Federation citizens. Starfleet perspective is that they were officially declared KIA AND THEY won't risk war by intervening to rescue them. I really really hope if they are going in this sort of direction they do stick with the Borg no longer being a threat throughout the season.
Also, of the 6 short Treks, one is a Picard episode and there is one episode titled Q&A. That title could fit with the turbolift episode we saw in the short Treks trailer, but it also be a great title for a Picard series prequel that answers some questions with help from a certain godlike entity.
Why does pickard have an emotional support dog? Do starfleet ships allow emotional support animals to roam around with the crew, or will he have to leave it in the kennel with Ripley's cat who for some reason was not allowed on military craft in the future, but was able to be on commercial mining vessels?Do they use reverse aging technology on seven's tits because it has been a while and she is looking more MILF like. Can we have a crossover where Billy tries to rape her by the holo pool and she rips him and the mindflayer in half? You know this really needs some super witty geeks to totally riff it in real time while binge watching it. This is begging for some decent fanboy humor/love.
I just wanna remind everyone that’s excited for this trailer Bad Robot is notorious for all style and no substance so don’t get your hopes up for this series.
It's even different companies, well, until next week or so. Paramount/Viacom do the movies, including the Kelvin-Timeline movies. CBS does the TV shows.
And? While the first two seasons of Discovery aren't perfect, they're waaaaaay the fuck better than the first two seasons of TNG.
I'm intrigued but I do have to point out that they appear to be using the absolute low-points of Star Trek (Nemesis and Voyager Season 7) as their jumping off point. It is what happened last chronologically but still...
Wasn't the original speculation something about the destruction of Romulus? This now seems to be a Borg-centered series.
Apparently the Romulan captured that Borg cube and are possibly doing experiments on drones. Maybe creating super soldiers. The actor that played Hugh was on stage and is involved.
And the folk telling Picard to be who they remember him to be seem largely to be Romulans, so maybe he's a hero to some of them and an enemy to others. STO had Sela and others hating Spock for failing to stop Hobus, but the nascent Romulan Republic worshiped him as the symbol of reunification...
