I already adore Alison Pill, but yeah, the dress she wore made me appreciate her beauty all the more. She is just gorgeous, and funny. I think I'm in love. (also in love with the Borg Queen because damn).
maybe I'm missing something but all of Soong's failed attempts lead me to believe that he's derivative of the Augment program - trying to recreate or refine it in some way - rather than instrumental in it.
I dunno. Like, WW2 can be considered to have started as early as 1931 when Japan started expanding it's sphere of influence. Between the 20 year old photos, files, and articles on the computer, we know Soong's been doing this for years and has illegally experimented on military personnel and prisoners before(?) cloning and was stripped of his credentials... which leads to the question of why he'd be allowed to make a last minute contribution to the Shango (alternately spelled "Xango"-heh) Project?
meh-she sang a few bars and they faked it, matching her tempo with a basic lounge beat. Welcome to "jazz". Q provided a bit of GPS. We don't have to have that revealed immediately so much as eventually (although the conversation would be kinda meta... there are some obvious things that should be obvious to a critical audience that doesn't need every little thing spelled out) Agreed. Both Picard and Seven should realize that she's jsut been through an even more unique experience with the BQ than they ever had. Rios shold notice that she's really out of her normal self too, especially now that she's MIA. last one, yeah... I think they'll Edith Keeler Theresa, but that makes it possible to take her to the future if she's not going to have anymore recorded impact on the 21st century.
Really? I nailed it right away. You must getting old. How did you figure that from the latest episode?
The last two episodes haven't been bad, but they've definitely put the brakes on this season's momentum. ...Which I was kind of worried about (see my posts upthread) because the first episode came out swinging like a wrecking ball.
there're at least 50 previous clones and whatever lynchpin Renee is, she was born in '96, same year as the eugenics war happened per TOS... nothing is for nothing in trek. A 28 year old astronaut? Bezos may have taken his boy toy up for a half orbit, but it hardly compares...
Yeah, except the Eugenics Wars were about genetic engineering, not cloning. Not saying you're wrong (even though you probably are), but you're sure reading a lot into what little we saw in this episode.
seems like a bit of a hair to split when he's clearly been mucking about with the Kore embryos after getting busted for the illegal experimentation on soldiers and prisoners... clones would make sense if one was trying to create a template for mass production. although yeah, didn't mean to be implying Renee is a clone/augment.
A whole bunch of Dollys died before they made Dolly. A bunch of dead Kores would be right for 21st century cloning.
But ICE is bad... there really isn't another side to it. They're one of the few organizations where godwin's law is waived as a defence. The comparisons to the Holocaust are all there save for the snappy uniforms by Hugo Boss.
My mistake. Which part of that episode had a Federation or Bajoran agency rounding up Skrreeans and locking them away or "disappearing" them completely.
Please, remind us, why did you bring it up? I was under the impression we were discussing Star Trek storylines in which "both sides" were being represented.
Yes in “Sanctuary” both sides are presented with reasonable arguments. Bajor is shown as sympathetic to the Skrreans, but can’t take in more people, the Federation finds a place for them to live and a reasonable conclusion is made. It’s not cartoonishly evil mustache twirling ICE officers taking joy in being cruel and deporting people. You might find it hard to believe, but some people want legal immigration and strict border control, but also sympathetic to illegal immigrants and their struggles and want them to be treated humanely. Sanctuary is a better written episode that leaves the viewer something to think about and can decide on their own what they think is the right thing to do. In Picard, the audience is preached to in a ham fisted way and is basically told what’s right and wrong and handless the immigrants with ignorance and no regard for the consequences of letting them all go.
hmm... deportations with out competent legal representation internment camps for refugees and the undocumented already in country. not that they don't have ID, they just didn't have it on them at the time. dude, you claim to have a history degree... how is this not history rhyming as badly as TFA did with ANH or RotJ?
