10 episode seasons are too short for Trek, I should say.

Peaky Blinders had 6-episode seasons and that was just right for that show.

This episode made me realize that the kid they cast to play Spock as a child in the first JJTrek looks like he could've grown up to look like Ethan Peck.

He was a sweet kid, too. Got to meet him at the 2010 Trek convention in Chicago.

Also, he's 28 years old now.

I'd like to hope that SNW ends up pulling a MASH and continuing through two distinct eras of cast members with a few sticking around for the entire series. I guess that makes Spock the Hawkeye?

Oh not me, the first word out of his mouth I shouted, there was no way they would troll us with that guy and his name turns out to be Angus McFadden or something.

I feel like once they realized how this story was going they would have been better served to come up with another script for 10 before the finale and then made the finale basically a feature length 2-parter. Would be much more of an "event" than waiting a year (or more) for what comes next.

further refining - too short for episodic trek.

Quality aside (either way) I'm fine with a show like Picard being 8-10 because it's basically like the old-school miniseries. Same with something like Secret Invasion of the new Justified.

But episodic shows with only "character development" threads for the background story, ten feels really short.

Yes. Even without the ongoing strikes, the conclusion still wouldn't run until sometime next year. :garamet:

At least with long seasons of old Trek a season-ending cliffhanger was resolved 3-4 months later.

Point of order: TWoK was released in 1982, and definitely ended on a cliffhanger. It wouldn't be until 1984 that the TSFS would be released. Then there's the fact that we went from 1969 to 1979 without live-action Trek. I think we'll live.

Well, in that case, the wait was even longer, since it took 20 years for new live-action Trek to reappear on TV after TOS died. :bergman:

I’ve convinced myself that Marvel is gonna cast Anson Mount as Reed Richard’s in the new Fantastic Four movie and this cliffhanger will never be resolved.

Buncha crybabies about the episode count.

Just be thankful we finally have a really good Trek series.

just not seeing that as a cliffhanger... the story was concluded no matter what could be interpreted from the Genesis planet genesising. It left open the sequel possibilities as distinct stories, not essential to the completion of that one.

Really? You don’t see the death, and potential resurrection of Spock to be a cliffhanger? Whole religions have been created over such things.

nope... it's "potential", but again not necessary to the completion of the story.

What we got was a torpedo casing in a freshly spawned forest... same sort of imagery we'd get of WW1 soldiers dying and then a field of flowers growing to tell us life goes on for the living. There could've been any number of movies between then and SFS and it wouldn't have mattered.
