Whoa... whoa... who... He said at the end of Empire Luke had his hand taken off and Han Solo taken away. That is deep. Not really.
Carrie Fisher's brother on the original role she was going to play in TROS before she died, and the process JJ used to get her into the version we have now. https://www.comicbookmovie.com/sci-...ans-for-leia-in-the-rise-of-skywalker-a171512
Yep. Disney has flat out said that cinematic Star Wars is going on an indefinite hiatus after Rise of Skywalker. https://www.nme.com/news/film/star-...the-rise-of-skywalker-says-disney-ceo-2565890
The reality is that Disney fucked up Star Wars. 1. The put Kathleen Kennedy in charge. 2. She let Rian Johnson wreck the trilogy because she didn't have a plan for all three movies. She let him do whatever and he fucked up so badly that he's basically out. She's pretty much a figure head at this point in the company until she decides to leave if the rumors are true because of the movie. They don't want to "fire" her because of the SJW madness that is gripping Hollywood right now. 3. She green-lit Solo which no one wanted and everyone was still upset over Solo getting killed in The Force Awakens. Who cares to see a origin story of someone you just killed in the first movie? It was a bad story and coming after the Last Jedi just bombed. 4. She turned her back on Lucas. Yes he was no longer owner of the IP but they probably should have gone with his plans for the next trilogy. At least he had ideas for the entire trilogy. They pretty much ignored him. Disney also doesn't have any original characters at Galaxy's Edge. In either park. Why? Because they only want their new characters. There is also no original trilogy(s) location in the park. No Tatooine, Endor, Hoth, Death Star, Bespin, or any other location from any of the first six movies. Only from the current trilogy. Utter stupidity on their part. Galaxy's Edge in both parks is failing. Only two rides available, ticket prices were raised because Disney assumed people would flock to Star Wars, and high prices for stuff in Galaxy Edge have killed both locations. Disney last month fired Catherine Powell, president of Disney Parks West, who was in charge of Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Walt Disney World (all the parks in Orlando). Or rather than be honest and say they fired her they say they "eliminated" her position. There are now rumors out there that if attendance in Galaxy's Edge in both parks doesn't pick up that both locations could be shut down and rebranded to something else. That would be crazy. And now we have the fact that Rise of Skywalker may be another dud. Rumors are going crazy that it's a movie by committee and test screenings have gone terrible. That the reshoots along with Lucas finally being brought in to help have helped the movie have better test screenings but until it comes out who knows. I'm still going to be seeing it but I'm going in expecting a dud. Hopefully they pull it out and it's great and saves Star Wars. And I hope Disney just accepts that people want the original characters and locations at the parks. Also more rides. Ridiculous that there are only going to be two rides in a 14 acre location. Also go back to the original ticket prices. Lower the prices for the lightsabers.
At this point I may actually enjoy the prequels more than the sequels.... although that’s not saying much. Prequels had terrible, stilted dialogue and episode 1 was ruined by Jar Jar and Young Ani but at least there was an overarching plan to the trilogy. And they didn’t just carbon copy the originals... they actually introduced a lot of new elements into the Star Wars universe and we got the awesome Clone Wars show from it. The sequels are pretty badly written too. 7 is a cut and paste of ANH. Whatever new or interesting elements that were introduced in the film were dropped in the second film. They made a big deal about Rey’s connection to the lightsaber and then literally threw that all away in 8. Pretty much every Rose scene was cringe and a whole 3rd of the movie (canto bight) could be excised completely. Now they say Palpatine was always in the plan. Then what was the point of Snoke, who was basically a carbon copy of the emperor and whom we learned absolutely nothing about? They say 9 will resolve the entire saga. But 6 already did that perfectly well. There was nothing left to resolve except how to make Disney more money.
It's a good thing everyone's writing their TROS reviews before they've seen it. Very labor saving. It'd be even more labor saving to wittle it down to "I hate it already ", but people like to look smart.
So, have you actually visited Star Wars Galaxy's Edge? Have you actually seen The Rise of Skywalker? No? Then take your rumors and fanboy hate-wanking and get the fuck outta here.
Funny, I didn’t see @Zor Prime only mention ROS and at this point, with only one movie left to go, we’re not going to get a satisfying ending like Endgame. You claim to not be brand loyal, but you are. You’re just as loyal as you are to Ghostbusters. You refuse to see the flaws and praise anything Star Wars. It’s really pathetic that you don’t have independent thought. He’s absolutely right, people give the prequels a lot of shit, but at least there’s some substance there.
And the only way to have independent thought is to agree with you, and everyone who agrees with you. Cuz that's how that works.
Disney has already publicly stated that Galaxy's Edge is not the gang busters they thought it would be. Disney has publicly stated that attendance is down. Disney has fired the head of the parks which contain Galaxy's Edge. People who have visited have commented that only one ride is available with the 2nd one still being built, no OG characters, and high prices. There are re-shoots beyond normal re-shoots. The movie has several cuts and Lucas was brought in to help after being ignored. And this is what I said: "I'm still going to be seeing it but I'm going in expecting a dud. Hopefully they pull it out and it's great and saves Star Wars." They cancelled future movies. Remember just a couple years ago how they were talking about even more Star Wars movies? Well as we all know now: Disney has publicly stated no more movies for a while. Do you think that would happen if they thought Rise of Skywalker was going to be a massive hit? Do you think they would do something like that when they just opened Galaxy's Edge in two parks if both Edge's were doing awesome? Blind fanboy's, you and Diacanu, can't accept that Disney has fumbled Star Wars and now it has to step back and take a break. It's people like you and Diacanu that help fool Disney (or any other franchise owner) into mistakes because you'll eat any shit they serve to you no matter how bad it is and Disney and most corporations like it have a nasty habit of only paying attention to the "yes fans" (think yes men) and refusing to deal with problems until the ship is sinking.
It was a huge mistake to not sit down before The Force Awakens even started filming and hammer out a plan for all three movies. Lucas had a plan and he was ignored. Lucas was upset. And for you Blind Fanboy's at Wordforge that comes from Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger just released autobiography. Rian Johnson would not have been able to do what he did in The Last Jedi and maybe things wouldn't have been so bad.
HA! It was a whacked out plan but at least he had it. The point is they even with ignoring his plan should have had a plan of their own for all three movies. No one should have been allowed to deviate from the plan.
With Star Wars they tried to create a new Marvel without realising what made the first two trilogies have so much impact. Both the original and prequel trilogies built anticipation. Three years between movies in each trilogy, then a gap of a decade before the next. Kids grew up with the movies, older fans had years to discuss and make theories and wonder what could come next. Now, it's not even four years since the release of the Force Awakens, and people are meant to be excited for the fifth Star Wars movie to release in the current batch.
Plus in between the trilogies we had all the books, games, toys, and conventions. After the prequels you add in the TV shows. Star Wars was doing well.
