These girls were chosen by Robin Antin, creator of the Pussycat Dolls. There was a 10 week reality show on the CW network just this spring. These girls competed hard to get into this group. Geffen records is throwing its advertising dollars behind them. They're "empowering for young women." That's their motto. All the girls have said so. Robin has said so. These are the young girls today. The children of the 90s. The demo the CW craves. You must check this out. You must. It's empowering. Girlicious presents: Stupid Shit
They look like their heads are about to fall off, or their limbs fall out... The empowerment thing doesn't upset me too much, because the denial has set in. It's like its one big giant joke, and the only ones not in on it are them...
I thought the bras, panties, and tube socks added just the right touch of class. Hey, Geffen records thinks these girls are gonna be the next big thing. They're putting big money behind these girls. They show that women don't have to be ashamed of their sexuality. What better way than to strip during your first video when you're all of 18 years old? The light skinned black chick is the late Gayle Sayers' niece. The guy from Brians' Song. I shit you not.
You don't? Why it's sexy, Dan. They're naughty schoolgirls out to do some stupid shit and celebrate just being girls. Get it? Aren't they sexy? I'm pernicious So delicious All the boys wanna eat.... Didn't you listen to the lyrics? They worked hard on those lyrics, man. Don't mock them. They're empowered young women. In bras, panties, and tube socks.
Is there such a thing as a current music style? Like, ya know, "60s rock" or "70s punk" or "dosco" or "new wave"? Is there a "2000s" style? Or it it all just shit these days?
It's not all shit...but the ones who've got "chops" don't make "popular" music. .....and of course you know that means they get no marketing dollars from their labels.
They strip? FFS. I need to start stocking up on real female rolemodels for when I have kids. I should add, I watched the first ten seconds, then decided I had seen all I needed to see...
Nope. It's their first video. They're completely serious. There's an edited version that'll play on air with a "shhhhhh" in place of the word "shit." Down to bras, panties, and tube socks. Then they have a pillow fight and have girl fun.
BTW, here's the music page of a young lady who competed and didn't make this group. Some songs she wrote and sings herself start playing a few seconds after the page opens. There are also pictures of her. Ms. Antin wasn't the least bit interested in having her in the group, but give her a listen and look at her picture. You'll come to understand a few things about Robin Antin really quickly. Ilisa's about 6 feet tall. Ilisa Juried's music page
Jesus fucking Christ. That's it. If a superior alien race showed up and said "Give us one good reason why we should let you live," I'd say "Nope, ain't a one. Go watch this video titled "Stupid Shit" on YouTube, and you'll agree."
Aaaaaand, their second video. Girlicious is on the rise. It's not quite as tacky as "Stupid Shit", but of course they're still dressed with the bare tummies and legs and leather. What strikes me (especially since I'm--quite embarrassed--to be familiar with the three girls who got cut and didn't make the group) is how average their voices are. They just don't sing very well. These girls got chosen for the group because of their looks and not their voices. Even with their voices tweaked for the video, they don't sound that great. The girls who were cut, their voices were beautiful....but one was the six foot tall redhead whose page I linked, one was a twenty-five year with bleached hair who looked like a rocker chick from the 80s, and the third was a size 12 who never could have cut it with the bare tummies and shorts. Beautiful voices, but they didn't have tight asses. Like Me They sang this song live on KTLA, and apparently they sounded like shit in the live performance. When you pick girls with only average voices, their live performances aren't going to be very strong.
