As of today, not only is Star Trek Into Darkness the highest-rated Trek film on IMDb, it's officially the highest-grossing Trek movie of all time adjusted for worldwide box office and inflation. Suck it, haters!
Indeed. Popularity is never a good indicator of worthiness. Especially not when it endorses diseased political ideologies that offer free cash and prizes.
I'm not sure who you're aiming that comment at. And you've used that stock phrase at least three times today, so time for some new ones.
I'm aiming it at you, Mr. "Libertarian Socialist, central authority is not necessary, property is theft, wealth is villainy, poverty is victimhood."
A sales pitch that offers free shit at someone else's expense, and the promise that nobody will force you to respect property rights where they become inconvenient? You bet it does. People are mostly lazy, self-entitled children when nothing forces them to be anything better. Feel the love.
Everything that doesn't agree precisely with your brand of bullshit is not exactly the same, no matter how vituperative you get about it.
Clearly nuTrek is popular with the general public. Clearly these films have been able to appeal to a wider audience. Also just as crystal clear is the fact that these films aren't really Star Trek, but action films with characters that just happen to be named Kirk & Spock.
I almost feel sorry for him. Almost. >>>Redacted <<< I mean, shit, that's pretty harsh. Not that it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.
Now THAT is classic Flashlight material Who's the poser who's been posting under your name the last few months?
But - what if makes the general public decide to see what the difference is between nuTrek and TOS? And they find that there are similarities, as well as differences, and it makes them do some thinking about what caused those differences?
It's still a fun romp. The Blu-ray is on the way and will be a nice premiere movie for my new home cinema sound system. I'm just wondering if I should do some proactive PR work and invite the neighbors over, pro forma of course, or let them have it without warning
Did Flashlight just pull a CS? Can we see if he can get as many neg reps? Anyway, enough about him and Uncle Albert. Let's get back to discussing the now proven fact that STID is the greatest Trek film of all time!
Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" is the highest rated, highest grossing song of all time. Suck it, haters!
"Star Trek" is whatever the fuck Paramount (i.e., the rights-holder) says it is. Aren't you some kind of cuntbag lawyer? You should know this. If this version of Star Trek doesn't fit your pathetic little pre-conceived notions, you and Dayton and Captain X should pool your money together and buy the rights from Paramount. You just might be able to raise at least a buck and a quarter if you three stooges work hard and give blowjobs to strangers on Hollywood Boulevard. Also, note the difference in people agreeing with your post vs. the people agreeing with the OP. Your team ain't exactly an honour-roll of Wordforge's finest. The majority of those folks are so developmentally-challenged that they probably can't walk and chew gum at the same time.
WAB is actually correct regarding WHAT "Star Trek" is officially & for the record. Though that has nothing to do with how good, bad, or neutral "Star Trek", regardless of whether it's Roddenberryverse, Abramsverse, or whatever comes next, are qualitatively.
