My wife recently got an android tablet computer and I am trying to help her set up some things with it, including a Bluetooth headset for use with a VoIP softphone. The Bluetooth headset seems to pair okay, but it doesn't "connect" to the tablet (the tablet says paired but not connected, whatever that means). I have also selected Bluetooth in the softphone. I am obviously missing something, but any ideas what?
I'm not trying to be glib, but sometimes shiznit just don't work on Android. It would help if you'd share model numbers though.
Just thought of this - have had problems similar to it. IT isn't paired to something else that is trying to connect at the same time, is it?
I don't believe so. The headset has never been paired with anything else as it is brand-new. Again, the tablet sees it and "pairs" with it, yet it also says that it's not "connected" and the headset reports that it is not connected to anything. To be clear, under the Bluetooth section of the tablet settings, it shows the headset and reports that it is "paired but not connected". Whatever that means.
Just a hunch, since I've never had an Android OS device, but check in "settings" and see if there's a menu for Bluetooth devices or something. Both my iOS device and Playstation have that and I connect Bluetooths in that menu.
Check out the forums at androidcentral.com. Odds are, someone there has the exact same tablet as you and can give you specifics to fix your problem, rather than just general advice.
Tucker is right, I searched and found a few people who fixed the problem by deleting the pairing, rebooting, and trying again, but truth be I've never held that Tablet in my hand.
It may be a bug that can be fixed by delete and reboot. It may also be a compatibility issue. I've had that with some devices where it will pair but not work.
So what I can gather from further research is that the tablet doesn't support Bluetooth devices except for stereo headsets (no microphone). DOH!
That's one of the many reasons Android, particularly tablets suck ass. There is so much fragmentation you buy something only to find it doesn't do a bunch of things you need.
iOS sucks for the same reason in many regards (iPhone owner who generally enjoys his phone speaking here) it's just that all the standard stuff it doesn't do isn't missed by most people since they are all using iOS.
