From over on the other side of the stream, it's no worse than yesterday, but no better, either. Fortunately, there are other things that can be done while it moves sssssslllllllloooooooowwwwwwwllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyy from one page to another...

It just had a 5-10 minute long hiccup of not loading anything. Seems to be ok now...first issues I've had in the last few days of being back.

I can jerk myself faster than WF can load a single page.

It took 6 minutes to load the main page, 3 minutes to load the help desk forum, and about a minute to load this thread. I can't use rep at all, as it never appears, even waiting 15-20 minutes at a time. Every other website snaps to attention, but WF is just lethargic and unresponsive.

^It's working fine for me. Weird that it's slow for some and not others at the same time.

I don't know if any of this will help, but I did a webpage optimization check on WF to see how another system would view it and break it down.

It's slow, Lanz. Even Lonaf when it was down was faster than this.

I just reinstalled my system so it is almost perfectly clean, and yet WF is slower today than yesterday.

A rusted-out '42 pickup sitting on blocks in a redneck's woodlot runs faster than WF.

This is the first time I've been able to load a complete thread in >24 hours. What's been happening for me is the page will start to load and then hang after displaying the title bar and first couple of posts. The loading symbol will just sit there and spin and spin and spin but nothing ever loads.

^ I get that quite often. It also take several attempts to login when I don't just get thrown to a 404 first. I've given up trying to embed a link to a news article, for instance, and just include it in the text as that function doesn't ever come back when requested.

Took a full 3 minutes to load this page. On occasion, this particular site is even crashing my computer because of the constant straining to load. (Crashed twice already today when visiting.)

Anyways, I'm gonna take a break from here and see whether it gets better next week. Good luck fixing it, and I hope it gets fixed soon, as I really like this place.

I can try restarting the server, but I haven't seen ANY of the slowdown y'all are describing. It hasn't been more than 1 second to start loading a thread, and 4 seconds to completely load ones that don't have a ton of animated gifs.

I've had that happen to me a lot as well. The other thing that has been happening, is the page will load in as far as The Help Desk link then nothing to the right of the help desk, or the information that is below it.
I have that problem, I also had a problem getting a thread started too. The site timed out.
Something has to be up with the board. It seems that there are a lot of reports at this point from people in different parts of the country that are experiencing similar problems.

For me, I'm not having this problem with any other site. I've switched from using the wifi on my laptop, to the ethernet plug to see if having the added bandwidth and speed might help. No luck. Even sites like Facebook which have a lot graphics, ads and such load in faster. With the ethernet plugged in for the computer, my download speeds do not drop below 50Mbps, my upload speed is at 3Mbps, and some change.

Even while typing this post, the little spinner keeps spinning, this site never stops.

When the board was down for the maintenance, was something done that could create these types of problems? It almost seems as if the board is on a send out information overload or something. The maintenance might have nothing to do with what some of us are experiencing, but at least for me, I didn't have this problem until after the maintenance.

What's really odd is that I'm not seeing any issues with server load - in fact, it's much LOWER than average.

Would the server load be showing lower than average if the pages we are loading so slow preventing us from browsing through the various forums, threads and etc. at our usual pace?

Slower than normal from work using Mozilla Firefox v3.6. Also slower than any other site using the same.

*Vastly* slower from home using IE v8.x (I think). Also slower than any other site using the same.

But I'm not getting it quite as bad as some of the others. Rep pop-ups may be slow, but they do come up for me. And the page(s) load fully...just slower than usual.

[Edit - just switched to IE v6.0 at work. Suprisingly speedy, all things considered. Figured it'd be a dog considering the archaic browser version...]

Rep pop up worked briefly for me last night, but stopped again today. It is back to doing the right click and opening it in a new tab.

I am also not seeing any performance issues right now. And I did a server re-boot the day before yesterday. So I'm at a loss . . .
