(This is my tribute to Chup's "America's leader is a joke" thread.) So many people say bad things about Trump. It's really sad. They forget all his great contributions: 1) To the abused Obama fans, who had to put up with so much whining about how little experience he had to prepare himself for the White House, Trump makes Obama seem like an elder stateman among elder statesmen! 2) To the abused George W. Bush fans, who had to put up with so much whining about him not being very brilliant, Trump makes W seem like a true genius among men! 3) To the abused Clinton fans, who had to put up with so much whining about him being a liar, Trump makes Clinton seem like the most honest of men! 4) To the abused Reagan fans, who had to put up with so much whining about him being a doddering old fool, Trump makes Reagan seem like the sharpest mind around! 5) To the abused Carter fans, who had to put up with so much whining about him not having a clue about foreign policy, Trump makes Carter seem like a brilliant manager of international relations! 6) To the abused Ford fans, who had to put up with so much whining about him being incompetent, Trump makes Gerald Ford seem like a masterful leader! 7) To the abused Nixon fans, who had to put up with so much whining about how dishonest he was, Trump makes Nixon seem like Mr. Clean himself! 8) To the abused Johnson fans, who had to put up with so much whining about how arrogant he was, Trump makes LBJ seem like the very model of humility! 9) To the abused Kennedy fans, who had to put up with so much whining about his immorality, Trump makes JFK seem like a paragon of virtue with respect to women! (I won't go back any further than that, because I don't remember much from Eisenhower's presidency, and you'll notice I skipped Bush 41 because I rather liked him and in any case this doesn't seem like the appropriate time. So I will just move on to my 10th point.) 10) Last, but not least by any means, to all the people of the world who have felt it was unfair for America to be the leader of the world, looked up to by everyone else, and making them feel inferior, Trump has put an end to all that. No one still thinks America is "leading" anything, or looks up to America at all! So we should all be thankful to Trump, for all he has done for us.
it never stopped being great! It was great before you were on this planet, and will continue to be great long after you leave it. Just because you don't see it's greatness that does not negate it's greatness. You have your own nation, the greatness of which you can either augment or diminish in your own way. It's a feedback loop - the US inspires me to be great, and my added greatness makes the US that much greater which draws in more great people! I truly take no pleasure in your inability to live here and contribute to (and draw from) the greatness.
You forget, I have lived there..... It's a country, a geographical region with a population and a political system. It's not awful but it's not great either, it's just one country amongst many, one that happens to have a big military. There's nothing else to distinguish it from many of it's peers and whilst I do admire your ardent sense of being part of something greater than yourself I honestly do feel you are one of many Americans who have lionised the US to the point where you can't see the reality amongst the myths.
Make America Great Again! Vote for "Anyone But Trump" in 2020! Even me. "Asyncritus for president" should start right here in Wordforge. I wouldn't have the faintest idea how to actually do the job, but at least I could talk to a number of European allies in their own languages! I could even talk to the Canadian PM in his own language, by throwing in an "eh" now and then!
Dude, I don't know you, but if it's you or Trump there's no contest.... After all, you can form actual sentences.
I think the promise of America is great... Liberty and justice for all. But I think it's a promise that America has yet to live up to. With that said, I am willing to fight for that.
I think we can all agree those ideals are worth fighting for, many countries talk about them but the question is whether any have truly delivered.
What are you talking about? This President has the best sentences, the greatest even. The most greatest.
I'm on board with Trump being a symptom, just a little curious if we can agree on what he's a symptom of....
I have no interest in myths, I can only judge the US from what I have experienced and what my senses bring to my brain. And I too have lived in other countries - I lived in yours for two years. It too is "not awful but not great" to me, but I would hope you think your country is the greatest. If not, that's just sad really.
Why would that be sad? What's sadder, wanting the cold hard truth or a comforting myth? One gives you a baseline to work from when trying to improve things and see dangers before they arrive, the other blinds you to faults and vulnerabilities. That was very much our downfall as an Empire, being blind to our own failings. We weren't the first to make that mistake and we won't be the last. My country gets a lot wrong and I don't for a second believe otherwise, but at the end of the day there are worse places to be. As for being "the greatest", I'm not sure what that even means.
I didn't say the US was perfect. Nothing is static, everything is dynamic - so even if you are great you still have to keep working hard at staying great. I think the US has a system that enables that and we will continue to attract the best/brightest from around the world. That's the cold, hard truth. And "the greatest" can mean different things to different people. Like beauty, it's truly in the eye of the beholder. Thus by whatever your personal definition is of "the greatest" then that is the standard by which you judge a country..........hopefully your own country of course fits your definition of great.
For me the ideal society is compassionate, it is about what the strong can do to help the weak, not how far an individual can progress. I walked away from a career in academia (admittedly it was going pear shaped anyway) and I've knowingly hindered my progression as a clinician on that basis because I genuinely believe what defines a society is how it treats it's most vulnerable members, not how much money you can make, how far you can progress up a ladder or how many wars you win. To me nationality is just a matter of pot luck, it's a geographical question of where you happen to originate from, nothing more and I'm not going to base my personal ethics and values on random chance any more than I'm going to venerate a flag or a piece of paper. There's a lot about the UK I believe is pretty awesome, for some things we're amongst the best in the world (read: healthcare, not to mention I owe my upbringing in no small part to our social services provision) but I also disagree with a lot of our national character, structure and politics (jingoism, racism, national arrogance by the bucketload , fucking brexit). Believe it or not I've taken quite a liking to you, you strike me as a genuinely decent person and when I talk like this it isn't intended as an attack per se. The US has massive problems and it's hard from an outside point of view to see it the way you do. What you see as a great system which enables attracting the best and brightest could just as easily be viewed as elitism. I don't see inequality as a thing to aspire to. I genuinely can't understand how a country with people so reliant on private heath insurance and so obsessed with gun culture at the expense of human lives and well being, a country with such a poor mean standard of living and such massive disregard for the sick, the unemployed and the homeless can be held up as an exemplar of the best the human race has to offer. After all, just look at the POTUS your system has elected, is he really the best and brightest or just an entitled rich boy?
Japanese animated porn, believe it or not. There's also a subgenre called tentacle hentai. @Captain X can elaborate
You need to remove the tentacle from your ass before responding. It is a lot more convincing that way.
I started off anime with a movie where the woman's vagina becomes a toothed mouth while she becomes a demon spider who tries to eat the dude she was having sex with. After that tentacles seemed a bit tame. Not to mention tentacles are useful in bondage where spiders are probably not very fun in bed no matter what the fortune cookie says.
