Just played for a few hours. The new pyro stuff is badass.

TF2 is definitely one of my fav games ever.

Yeah the Pyro seems to be a touch overpowered, held off six poeple in a tunnel on my own for 5 mins :D

Yeah he seems really good now that there are tons of pyros everywhere, so you aren't facing much of a ranged threat anymore.

Once the normal class balance comes back, it'll be harder to get close to people all the time.

And pyro did need a buff from his former state.

I'm not doing well. I've been playing as the engineer. The turrets are fun when upgraded completely, but his shotgun is totally lame. I hit one spy that was sapping my systems with four rounds at point blank range and he still killed me. :wtf:

None in particular. I'm just finding servers that are relatively full and joining. I'm really digging some of the maps.

If you are actually hitting, that will definitely kill a spy.

You will be better off using your wrench to kill spies in that situation. Spamming your wrench attack not only removes sappers but will kill a spy in two hits (one if it crits).

Here's a screenshot of a particularly good round I had today:

    75 kills, 17 assists, 7 destructions, 1 capture, 8 defenses, 7 dominations. All with only 24 deaths.

I like this game. At the end of the free weekend I shall buy it to support the developers.

However, Pyros are bloody annoying right now. Everybody wants the goodies so everybody is a pyro. At one point today, a team I was on had 13 of them. :wtf:

Overall, I've had a great experience playing this game this weekend. Only one server has given me problems (read as: been annoying). Everyone has been fairly polite and teams have actually worked together.

That one server was annoying as shit though. I don't mind, and quite frankly, enjoy the voice feature on games. But, to many of those jerks were using it to play music and ad other sound effects. It got old real fast, especially when politics (of all the damned things) came up and people started whining about John McCain and Barack Obama while they were playing. :wtf:

Yeah, that happened to an even worse extent when the new medic items came out. Luckily, they made it easier to get the new items for Pyro so the surge shouldn't last as long as the medic one did (and won't be as annoying since there won't be a billion ubercharges everywhere).

The medic achievements were more "odd" and less likely to occur during normal gameplay. Also, you needed all 36 of them to get all 3 items. For pyro, you only need 22 to get all the items.

Pyro was my 2nd most-played class before the Pyro updates, so I have an excuse for playing him a lot :D.

I just bought The Orange Box. This leaves me with a gift copy of Half-Life 2. If any of you have steam, don't have it (unlikely), and would like it, please PM me.

    Not quite. Long story short:

Way back when, Nick had Half-Life 2. When he bought The Orange Box, it came with a copy of Half-Life 2. So, Steam allowed him to gift his original copy of Half-Life 2 to someone else. He gave it to me.

I bought The Orange Box. Since I already had Half-Life 2, Steam is allowing me to gift my original copy of Half-Life 2 to someone that doesn't have it.

Someone is lying to me here.

I'm paying for 6mbps internet. The Orange Box is saying it's 7GB. I'm well past half-way done with the downloads in only 30 minutes. Two of the downloads are getting 530+ kbps and the rest are getting 300+ kbps. :wtf:

I'm liking the new maps a lot (Turbine, Fastlane, and the redesigned ctf_well).

The new Well and Turbine are great CTF maps. I've never been a fan of 2fort, and it used to be the only official CTF map there was. I guess it is OK if you just want to fight, but the way it is structured, most of the games end in stalemates because the bases are easy to defend. It is one of the best maps for rocket/pipe jumping I guess. I could imagine it being a lot of fun with coordinated teams, but for the average random game, people aren't organized enough to break through usually, so it's a big campfest.

I love play scout on turbine, the center room has a lot of places to jump around and evade getting owned.
