While writing up the review of Ran in the 'Criterion' thread, I realized that I'd probably put it on my 10 best list. Which got me to thinking...which 10 movies would I want to take on, say, a one-year space voyage. Not necessarily my favorite movies or the movies of the highest critical merit, mind you, but ones I could rely on to not "get old," that is, to stay entertaining even on numerous viewings.

Here are my 10 picks (in no particular order):

    Silence of the Lambs
    Casablanca
    The Third Man
    Ran
    North by Northwest
    Raiders of the Lost Ark
    The Usual Suspects
    Alien
    Dumb and Dumber
    The Searchers

I dunno if I have ten movies that wouldn't get boring after a while... I might be able to make it with ten books.

Any list of mine would have to include the Star Wars Trilogy and Romero's Dawn of the Dead.

It would be difficult to pick just 10 movies, though.
