When you’re capable of acting like an adult and ask me the questions without insults, I’ll happily answer them.

    I'll bite.

Well, we don't know they were the target. The drones were hit, and came down in that area.

IF Ukraine is targeting civilian areas to kill, then that needs to stop. If they're intending to cause damage and spook the oligarchs, all power to them.

Not unless they're actively targeting regular Russian civilians. Oligarchs and Siloviki are quite valid targets as they're tied to the Putin government.

And even then, I have to make something of an effort to give much of a shit given what has gone on, especially as Russia can stop most of this by packing up and fucking off right back to the 2021 borders. They can stop it all by fucking off out of Crimea too, and coming up with a plan to recompense Ukraine.

Nope. Give them more weapons, stop tying a hand behind their back and allow weapons to attack military and dual targets in Russia, especially around power grids.

Depends, are these dissenters quiet as fuck about the Russian atrocities? Humming a happy tune as the greatest child snatching since Hitler's Lebensborn program takes place? If so, looks like the right badge for them.

@Bill Carson, there's nothing wrong with questioning information, but how do you explain the weird juxtaposition between, on the one hand, the ferocity with which you immediately question and disbelieve any assertion that appears to be pro-Ukraine, and on the other hand the eagerness with which you latch onto any assertion that supports Russia and Putin?

Besides, questioning without attempting to answer is useless. And answering is a process that involves, among other things, evaluating the reliability of sources. Is "generally speaking, Russia lies a hell of a lot more than the United States" really a statement you're going to disagree with?

What's going on here? Is it just a knee-jerk "Putin and Trump say nice things about each other, libs don't like Trump, libs bad, therefore Putin good" tribalism thing?

Not bad, cheers, I keep checking up on here but rarely post - usually busy, and my day to day tends to involve debating/arguing/ranting/swearing profusely, so what was once stress busting fun, is now stress inducing work!

I'm no longer from the internet, I just work there...

Zelenskyy says that every country that borders Russia should join NATO. Someone points out that it'd be pretty funny if China tried to join NATO. Someone else suggests that Mongolia join, invoke Article Five and begin a new Khanate. And I'm like, "If this gets me video of NATO tanks blowing up Russian tanks in Ukraine set to music like this:

    Then I'm all fucking in!"

I mean, you know how many cool ass songs have been inspired by war, right? And they don't all have to be horrible, just because they're pro-war. I mean, how bad can a song about kicking Hitler in the nuts really be? Sure, there might be some racism in there when you're talking about Tojo, but you're still happy to kick Hitler in the nuts, and that means, even if you're not perfect, there's still a lot we can work with.

But heavy metal music with Mongolian throat singing? Dude, that is worth some serious war crime shit, right there alone, baby!

Now I'm imagining Nightwish with Mongolian throat singing as guest vocals and I didn't know I needed this in my life until now.
Fuck, make it a guest collab with Steven Wilson and Pat Metheny, backed by a symphony orchestra as a cross-genre symphony and I'll die a happy man

Gotta love living in the 21st century. People are already modeling the potential damage.

    https://cornucopia.se/2022/10/worst-case-modelling-for-nova-kakhovka-dam-break/

There’s a Russian controlled nuclear plant downstream of the dam.

Yeah... the dam is not good news on several levels - as well as cooling the nuclear plant it's also a water source for a lot of upstream communities. Plus the flooding could damage Kherson.

Better news, Wagner are continuing the teeth-clenched "with friends like these" stuff - they have dismissed the latest Russian estimates of Ukrainian casualties as "science fiction". Russia claimed to have killed 1500 troops in the latest fighting, but Wagner's boss says that would mean advancing 150km/day.
