USAREUR isn’t what it once was.
I doubt that there are even any remaining POMCUS sites to equip heavy units flying in from the US.

It definitely could have been worse. Biden reversed Trump's troop draw down

2CR has Hammerheads and MGSs yes?

Anyone over there have ADA assets? Rotary-wing CAS?

2CR and 173nd have a decent amount of bodies.

From what we've seen so far, it seems like the 3rd ACR could probably beat the Russian ground forces on their own.

Okay, maybe even the 2nd Cavalry Regiment then, smarty pants. :nyer: I guess my point is USAREUR has more firepower than the 3rd ACR in spades doesn't it?

I just can't even. What the fuck is going on with the Russians??? Even if (a few days ago I'da said "when") they win, they've already been thoroughly and irrevocably humiliated.

Not to their own people, who either won't know it happened - or will be arrested if they talk about it.

Thirty-one years ago we were jamming to this song celebrating the end of the Cold War.

Now, we're all wondering if we're going to get nuked. Goddamned if this ain't one fucked up timeline we've found ourselves in.

You know, maybe Carlson needs to have some drinks at Bill Cosby's house. I'm not saying anything, I'm just saying that the Cos knows how to make people relax.

All I know is, I've made up some bullshit excuses before, but that one reminds me of when I told my mom that it wasn't me that wet my bed...it was another boy that lives in my closet.

It’s accurate but misleading. It fluctuates day to day; it’s not like it was always conservative until two days ago. It’s conservative-dominated today too.

This is certainly a new aspect of modern conventional warfare in countries with nuclear facilities. Even without the going back and forth a uranium or plutonium facility needs a skilled crew to operate it. What if those people want to run from the incoming troops? Do you stay and risk becoming prisoners or worse because you have to man the nuclear facility until the invading force can get the proper people there to keep it from melting down? Even if both sides are going to keep it running properly you might be in peril simply because you stayed.

Turns out Finland flies F/A-18s and F-35s. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finnish_Defence_Forces . Maybe Finland declaring a no-fly zone, supplied with American planes, would be viable. And Finland's president was in Washington today (he looked like he was going to have a heart attack on the PBS News Hour interview) (also, who knew Finland had a president? I thought it was strictly parliamentary). Actually getting there might be difficult... somehow they'd have to avoid NATO, Russian, and Belarusian airspace on the way there to avoid any "misunderstandings". They'd either have to go the very long way around, but that would probably be impossible*, or fly well clear of the border until they got to Moldova, and hope Russia didn't take allowing Finland to move through NATO airspace (and possibly refueling in Germany or Romania) to get there as an escalation. It is worth noting that there are two flight paths that can get from southwestern Finland (I have no idea where their airbases are) to Moldova without refueling, but one goes through the Suwalki corridor, so really only one. I wonder if that's why Lukashenko's map indicated an invasion of Moldova, to prevent other nonaligned countries (presumably financially backed by NATO) from staging a no-fly zone out of there.

*Hypothetically, given the published 2200 km range (also damn, that's a much shorter range than the F/A-18), they refuel in Sweden, fly over the North Sea and around Scotland, refuel in Ireland, Morocco, Tunisia, Cyprus, and Georgia, but that would require going over Syria and Iran to avoid going through Turkish airspace. So that's ridiculous. Unless some other nonaligned country has an aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean that can go through the Bosporus and launch the F-35s from there.
