OK, we're getting somewhere now. I don't dispute that some undocumented immigrants get paid under the table. Now, let's keep following this train of thought. What are some of the reasons they do that?
Because businesses owners aren’t willing to pay competitive wages when they can get cheap labor. Small businesses can’t afford to provide health insurance due to ACA requirements and therefore cut back hours to part time workers. The government doesn’t enforce regulations prohibiting hiring illegal immigrants. Wages aren’t rising with inflation. Government spending keeps causing inflation. Going off the gold standard allows for the government to keep printing money, which contributes to inflation and devaluation of the dollar. Corporations outsourcing jobs to places like china who basically have slave labor. Etc.
OK, first of all, most of those statements are complete non sequiturs. (Seriously? Undocumented immigrants prefer to be paid under the table because the U.S. went off the gold standard?) Second, keep on thinking of reasons an undocumented immigrant might prefer working under the table.
Because it’s not taxed income. Those things I pointed out are factors in a grander scheme of things. They are contributing factors.
Not a meme, but something I thought of: Pearl Jam’s new hit; Elderly Man With a Poor Memory Behind a Counter in a Small Town.
First off kiddo, that is john cougar or the boss. No one likes pearl cram. (Shut up @Bailey I know you are probably listening to can't find the butter man right now) Second, your song would be young kid makin sammiches, beating his girlfriend because he's drunk again, asking his mom for money so he can pay his probation fees do to his DWI in his teens.
So, Biden said some bad things about Republicans during a state of the union address? And you think that’s bad. But, all the stupid shit trump said while in office was fine?
There is only one reason undocumented workers get paid less and under the table. And that reason is that someone doesn’t want to pay any more than they have to to get a job done. That’s it. There are no other “contributing factors”.
Many under-the-table jobs don't pay enough to be taxed beyond FICA and Medicare anyway. What OTHER reasons might someone want to work under the table if they're undocumented?
That's probably the only reason from the employer's standpoint, but there are other reasons from the employee's standpoint, and I'm waiting for him to figure it out.
Fuck man it has only been two weeks since Real Wages were last explained to you and Tweedle Dee. Do we really have to do it all over again?
Jeff Bezos was having heart attack victims rolled into the corner so the rest of the line could keep working, so I don't even have to go back to 19th century coal mine days to illustrate capitalist depravity.
And this is how you can tell that Ben Shapiro has never had a working-class job. Once, when I was in my late 20s and all my joints still worked properly, I commented to my boss that since people live longer than they did when Social Security was founded, it didn't seem unreasonable to raise the retirement age. He replied that raising the age is one thing for people working desk jobs like ours, but an entirely different proposition for people who spend 45 years on their feet in a retail store, a factory floor, or a construction site. Frankly, I'd much rather raise taxes on the top 10% and LOWER the age. Make it possible for everyone to retire at 62 if they want to.
You're right, real wages are up, but prices on nearly everything including housing, rent, gas, electricity, groceries, new and used vehicles, you know, the things you need to function in modern society. Oh and oops, February saw a rise in inflation. About those real wages. How is the job market looking? Well, unemployment is down, this is true, but.... https://www.cnbc.com/2024/03/12/heres-the-inflation-breakdown-for-february-2024-in-one-chart.html Yes I read the article. Please keep gaslighting the people. You do it all of the way until the election, I'm sure it'll work out just fine. Oh and I have no doubt you'll try to scare people over abortion just in case the gaslighting doesn't work.
Not sure if the UK has SS or something similar, but here, SS is taken directly from payroll checks. UA (and his stance on SS is not new) is saying “don’t take my money from my check, I’ll be responsible for my own retirement”. My comment was not only do I want all that money back, but with whatever interest it would have accumulated over 40 years. Also, not all girls want a diamond. some most things are more important.
