Nothing short of Fort Knox is adequate if someone is determined. I refuse to be blamed after someone gets through at least two locked doors. I have every right to expect my belongings are secure in my own goddamned home, and theivibg shitbags are 100% accountable for their own actions.

Not through legal means, but more laws will totally solve the problem. :techman:

And in this case it's the gang-heavy areas that need cleaning up.

it is known, gangs get most of their guns from police. Police take them from the confiscated and evidence lockers and sell them to gangs.

You keep them from guns by locking the violent people away. I refuse to be punished for someone else's deficiencies.

Nor should you be. But, the laws regarding purchasing guns are not about gangs. It's about keeping guns from abusers and the mentally ill. The only way to stop gang gun violence is by dismantling and rebuilding police forces in big cities.

Some are manufactured here. Doesn't mean they aren't brought back north. Obama and Holder didn't let a whole mess of them disappear down there to protect Mexico from our guns.

Which leads to the militarizing of the police.
If the gangs didn't have military grade weapons in the first place, you wouldn't tend to get that.
But hey, you want to play Duck Hunt with live ammo, so it's all worth it.

Actual military-grade weapons are already illegal for civilian ownership, so those were not stolen from law-abiding citizens and laws did not deter criminals from obtaining them through other means.

The two guys arrested shouldn’t have been free to time the streets in the first place, but liberals want to defund the police, shut down the prisons and take away our second amendment rights, but they’ll let thugs like this go free, why, because too many blacks are in prison?

State and city policy has failed on multiple levels here, but that's not how it will be spun.

Please elaborate why they should have been in prison. I read the article. The first one had an outstanding warrant. The second was released after doing time.

One of them had a long history of run ins with the police since 2013. Served half of a ten year sentence and the other one served a light probation violation sentence. Maybe the state should be a little tougher on people with the type of records these two have?

If there were prior convictions involving violence or weapons, that should have ended their days as free men. If you're not willing to do that, I don't care what noises you make about ending gun violence, you are clearly not serious about solving anything.

define "locked"? like, a deadbolt and door knob in a 2x4 frame or a keyed and combo'd gun locker?

Prison, if I understand the question.

Anything at all involving a weapon, and anything unarmed but with intent to cause serious bodily harm. If you're gonna piss around with coddling and "rehabilitating" fucksticks like that, then any talk of further gun restrictions is off the goddamned table.

Deadbolt and doorknob is more than adequate. Like I said, I have every right to be secure in my home, and thieving shitbags are solely responsible for everything they do. I should not have to perpetually jump through hoops (and render weapons useless in an emergency, by the way) because society refuses to deal decisively with the real culprits.

flat bar and a hammer and any idiot is inside when you're not home. pop the deadbolt casing and then jimmy the knob latch. takes 30 seconds or less.
(contrary to fantasy, thieves generally don't go for places when the occupants are in).

Sounds like the voice of experience. :brood:

I didn't say it was impenetrable. I said it was all that should be expected of me. I will not be held responsible for the actions of others. There is no contorting yourself around that.

I hold you responsible for not locking your guns in a safe or even using a trigger lock.

I hold you responsible for your possession of firearms.

well yeah. I used to build and install doors along with several years doing both demo and framing. I know how these things go together.

Although yeah, there've been points in my past where extra security to our entry points was preferable.

mounted a few gun safes into concrete floors as well. pretty easy to do if you use the pallet they're already bolted to for transit and jsut pour around it.

but impenetrable? sweet cheeks, you don't sound like you expect much of yourself...

Why? If I am hypothetically not locking everything dangerous behind some ridiculous MST3K series of barriers, who am I harming or endangering? No one. If some shitbag steals my property and does something bad with it, the one and only person to blame for that action is him. Enough of this nonsense about structuring society around its refusal to deal decisively with the people who are the real problem.
