Storing your guns in your safe is a totally normal, accepted thing here. Has been for some time

Sorry your teenage mentality can't quite wrap its head around that and you're unable to accept that reality

You keep on doing the bare minimum and being proud of it I guess :techman:

Appeal to consensus. This is how you pretend you "shoot holes" in something.

I'm sorry you think you get to piss away my money because you can't stand to see your degenerate relatives rot in prison.

That explains why you leave them lying around.

I didn't say I "leave them lying around." I'm saying two locked doors should be enough, regardless of any other measures I may take. Buy a locking cabinet? Not enough. Buy a safe? Not enough unless it's sunk in fucking concrete. All of that is perfectly reasonable, but removing violent people from society is not.

    Fucking clown world bullshit. :jayzus:

Again with the relatives. Why do you think my relatives are criminals? There's been a few trips to the drunk tank I admit, but that's really it

which brings us back to if you aren't willing to take a reasonable precaution you're responsible for what happens.

are two flimsy mounted doors, let alone unlocked windows, enough security for a few thousand dollars worth of firearms or do you spend a grand to protect those items from theft?

does your insurer think it is?

it's one of his discredit dodges.

I mean, I've got a record for personal weed possession and ran an unlicensed bar for a few years, but he seems to think I'm a crime lord or some sort.

well, 1200 CDN. and half of that is hiring someone to do a reno I would expect if I can do, so could you.

of course that's only a locker sized option. A foot locker version would at least be within the realm of responsible storage.

Anyone's relatives, then. The point is that burdening people like me is the low-effort, zero-cost alternative to actually dealing with the dregs of society so that honest people don't have to deal with their shit. That's why politicians beat that drum. Reform the courts and prison system to permanently remove bad people from the rest of us? Nah. That's too hard. Easier to just blame Joe Sixpack for not gleefully jumping through the endless amount of hoops laid out before him.

And you get to define "reasonable." :dayton:

Still considering everyone but the actual criminal shitbags. Maybe that's where your actual sympathies lie.

If it's small enough to carry it can be taken somewhere to be opened later. So that eliminates pistol safes, narrow cabinets, anything smaller than a fridge-sized safe, that should probably also be mounted. Perfectly reasonable. :jayzus:

along with the light fingered landlords
    and curious kids...

see, responsible means considering multiple possibilities.

"Enable" by failing to commit endless expense towards preventing other people from doing things they should not be doing. I'm not allowed to expect other people to behave decently.

I'll consider the possibility of setting a fucking boobytrap to prevent them ever stealing anything again. How's that for you?

Yes, it's a joke, you fucking cretin. Do not let me see you quoting this in six months like it was a serious statement that "wins" you some dumb shit argument.

meh-you know you have something people might steal and it's potentially dangerous
you're not willing to do more than a bare minimum to prevent it being stolen. probably less, as the locking system implied suggests you aren't the sole key holder to either barrier.

poster child for irresponsible gun storage.
