My wife bought several seasons on video of a show called "coupling" and it is probably the most funny comedy show ever. It has the dude that plays commander norrington in POTC in it, and this really hot blonde.

I thought all they had was the cheese documentary, Dr. Who, then signoff and static.

That was what they had when I lived there. It must have gotten better over the years.

I was recently watching Coupling myself a few weeks back.
At one point I became obsessed with BBCA comedies and secluded myself from everything.
You might as well have thrown in the towel if there was a marathon going on.
never the less It was a good show.
I was amused by all the sexual humor.

Thats what makes it so good, that would never go over here. To many assholes would have a problem with it.

Oh yes. New eps start in January, I think.

Do yourself a favor and download Top Gear, Season 9, Episode 3.

I loved Coupling. Funny thing is, I only started watching it because daughter went on about how good it was.

They have great shows. My wife just brought me back the complete runs of Blackadder, AbFab, Murphy's Law, Little Britian.

I already had Couplingb and a few others.

    *whoosh*?

Anyway, some great shows. Love COUPLING myself, hilarious. Was disappointed by BLACKADDER tho which I don't find funny at all. Probably because of Rowan Atkinson whom I consider a talentless hack who is and will always be Mr. Bean, no matter what he plays.

    Not really surprising given

    1. the track record of American remakes (sans THE OFFICE which is quite good) and
    2. general American prudishness.

That's too bad. I saw Blackadder first, thought it was brilliant, THEN saw Mr. Bean and said "Come on Rowan, you can do better than this!".

To each their own, I suppose.

The reason it did not work is that I read somewhere that all US tv shows and commericals are geared so that someone with a 6th grade education would have not trouble understanding them. Therefore they are all dumbed down. I enjoyed the british sense of humor as it sometimes makes you think to get the punchline. I fit right in over there as my sense of humor runs along those lines and it was almost like coming home when I started visiting a local pub. Nothing at all like that here in the states. We just have a lot of stupid people who wish to remain stupid and are proud of it

You should see what happens when the British try to remake US TV shows.

    The Brighton Belles, anyone? :marathon:

For all its faults, at least Torchwood put paid to the idea that it was just CSI: Cardiff in the first episode ("They'd be measuring the velocity of a doner kebab!").

You know, I'd wiped that from my memory. Gee, thanks. ;) :garamet:

But be honest, from Sanford and Son on, there's far more cases of the Yanks softening great Brit shows than vice versa.
Hell, America got Bridget loves Bernie - Jew marries Catholic, OMG!!! - based on Mixed Blessings - black marries white. In the early 70s.

From what I understand, that's only going to be legally available to UK residents.

I don't think it would matter even if you did. I believe that the service would/does automatically block any non-UK IP address.
