El Chup, WTF? This was a very poor decision, as now the entire thread is a clusterfuck. I was following some Dayton threads, and not others, and now you've forced me to have to pick which replies were from which threads.

It's not like Media Central is overrun with threads. Hell, we should be happy about the threads we DO get, considering this forum isn't exactly the most lively place outside the Red Room.

And if this decision is reversed, El Chup should have to separate the threads - "too much work" be damned. It's his responsibility.

Nobody goes to college to purchase DVD's. It just happens. If you're implying that you cannot learn while maintaining a large DVD collection, then I have no choice but to question your social experience. I'm sure people did go to your college to learn, but if that's all they did then they wasted their money.

I'll have to vote BAD CALL on the thread merge. This thread is now officially a mess.

Unbox it. You screwed up. Face is right. Simply because you don't like Dayton doesn't give you the license to act like an...what do you Brits call it?..an arse.

You don't need 500 DVDs and a big screen TV to socialize, unless a person just sucks at making friends.

It's pretty much a given that he with the most Al Pacino posters is the biggest pussy around.

One thing I've noticed and that I don't like in modern Star Trek is the "it is just a TV show" mentality. A lack of seriousness.

Ironic that studios and fans are now spending more than the GDP of some small countries on what is "just a TV show".

Didn't Roddenberry use TOS to promote IDIC necklaces he was selling?

Didn't TOS once have a "scary" episode, just for Halloween?

Didn't important details change during TOS, like Spock being Vulcanian instead of Vulcan, or the Enterprise being part of the UESPA instead of Starfleet?

It's always been "just a tv show." If it seemed like more to you in the past, that's because it's how you chose to see it.

Finally saw it today. Liked it. It wasn't especially thought provoking, but it kept me entertained the entire time. No spots where I was checking my watch, unlike every other Trek movie I've ever seen.

One nitpick: Nimoy seemed to stop playing Spock after he left Hoth. All his other scenes felt like I was just watching regular Nimoy.

Re: Does "Abrams Trek" Really Have Any Long Term Future?

No doubt, but you misunderstand me. I wasn't suggesting that owning a lot movies means you're social. I was suggesting that you specifically are not social if you didn't know a movie lover with a large DVD collection in college. I don't care if you went to an Ivy league school. The average student at your college owns more DVD's than the average 40-something and it's not even close.
