Complete sexual exclusiveness is the foundation of marital intimacy. Marital intimacy is one of the key foundations of marriage. Marriage is the foundation of society in America (and elsewhere).

Strictly speaking, it's family breakup and illegitimacy that lead to things like poverty and crime, all of which went on the rise with the sexual revolution. Of course, the dubious part of the narrative is the extent to which premarital sex actually "causes" marriages and families to fail. The solution, in my opinion, is not to push conservative sexual morals--because the cat is not going back in the bag--but more education about contraception and managing family life.

But Jesus was of two natures, one divine and one human. (Your fundie sect does subscribe to that theological point, right?) So was Jesus' human nature hypocritical?

I would have thought that narcotics are a bigger problem than pre-marital sex. Starting with the effects on the individual and the behaviours they go to to support and feed their habbit, moving up the line to inner city street gangs and drug cartels. I would argue these are a bigger blight on American society!
