unless they're near your house, apparently... kinda funny that I've had to tell you this fact 1000 times

I tend to go with "circumstances" rather than "society", because, y'know... nuance.

we've been through this too, about having good choices to make in the first place. Your choice is to remain obtuse to this.

Unless it does something you don't like.
    Like protest police violence.
Or use the wrong hair care potions.
Or have anything less than a baritone voice.
Or point out your hypocrisy, in which case, you'll just imagine the person sucks helium.
Seriously, WTF is the voice thing?

fun fact: I've got a pretty deep voice. Like, the one time ELwood and I spoke on the phone he found it worthy of commenting.

but yeah, it's kinda hilarious watching this clown go on about nuances when it comes to why Native lands can be seized at a whim, but ya better stay off his block if you're not dressed nicely enough...

Life does not owe you easy choices, and that is no excuse to do shitty things to others.

Yes, homeless addicts steal, and I'm not paying for the privilege of having that kind of neighbor. Fucking sue me.

Yes, choices have consequences. No, me mocking silly people is not one of them. It's like you live in a world where only superficial perceptions count.

And protesting is fine, so long as you don't steal, wreck shit or hurt people. Possibly you missed the dozen or so times I've said that before.

"Life" isn't a disembodied boogeyman that looks like Crom sitting on a cloud.
And if Crom were up there, he wouldn't be impressed by trickle down, Alan Greenspan, or Ron Paul.

Like sabotaging public schools, and polluting soldiers and their families?

Here's the thing. We are only just at the point in human evolution where we are looking at our own actions and behaviors that lead one person in this direction and another person in another direction. So, understanding criminals - why they do what they do, will go toward helping a society understand why things happen and work to prevent them.

It's not about being easy on criminals. It's about working toward a future in which humans may or may not be able to help new parents as well as a community as a whole, ensure a child is directed toward being a successful member of society.

Of course, there will always be people who don't give a fuck about society and feel like people who would be criminals are allowed to continue in whatever direction that eventually leads them to be criminals. Those people can choose to live on a different planet in which people are ... basically playing out Lord of the Flies.

Look at how the religious misogynists screamed against the anti-HPV vaccine, because it "might make girls sluts".

Now imagine if you could cure crime with a fucking pill, and threatened to erase the Prison Industrial Complex.
The mask would come off of the criminal justice system being about vengeance and money real fucking quick.

This. Our so-called criminal justice system, speaking only for what happens in the US, is just a legal profit system. It has very little to do with actual justice.

imagine giving people actual treatment and training as part of their sentence instead of just locking them up-although that would fuck up profits.

No, it is a state of being that is not beholden to your survival or contentment. That is the role of your parents.

That pill would have to remove individual free will. I hope it's a giant horse pill, so you really feel it when you jam the entire supply RIGHT up your ass.

Thanks for admitting free will is sacrosanct so long as everyone does what you want.
    Wasn't that easy?
It didn't rip your soul in half to confess to being a fraud after all.
See how easy letting go of libertarian horseshit is going to be?
You don't have to change a goddamned thing about yourself.
    Not really.

It's like a lab-engineered swipe at wrongness. I was saying I was opposed to your anti- free will pill, if "jam it up your ass" was too vague for you.

We're not doing pre-crime, and we're not doping people with compliance drugs. You allow them a choice, and then hold them to the consequences.

    :sroll:
I'm not going to call you crazy, because people these days either wear that as a fashion statement or a shield against accountability. But that's sure as hell not a rational assertion.

That'd be a brilliant karate-man counter-move in a universe where everyone had a goldfish memory, and forgot how you firehosed cum over BLM police beatings.
But, we remember that shit, so you're scum with no leg to stand on.

Ok. Now, forget about the pill and respond to my statement about just understanding human behavior and giving parents the tools necessary to ensure a child doesn't feel a need to turn to crime.

I'd need specifics. On the surface, that sounds like "Give us free money or our kids will grow up to rob you." I don't indulge blackmail.
