Has anyone seen the newest commercial for The Happening? "Critics are calling The Happening 'Sick'; 'Twisted'; 'Disturbing'; 'Ferocious.'" I love the cherry-picking going on here. I didn't catch whose reviews they were quoting from, but I would love to see these words in context. If anyone has TiVo'ed this commercial, post the critics' names, and let's see what they really said.
Like most movies, I suspect those that absolutely hate it...went into the theatre planning to hate it.
I'm going in planning to like it. It's this movie or "Indiana Jones." But I hate fast-paced action movies, so it will end upp being "The Happening".
Thanks to everyone for the spoiler tags I have loved all of Shyamalan's films. He's my favourite filmmaker actually, so I am hyped for The Happening. Just glad that there are some people that enjoyed it. Bodes better for me to enjoy it.
I'm ambiguous about it. I like M.night in general. Hell i liked "lady in the water", Because I understood what he was doing with it. It's gotten some bad reviews, but that is by people that I don't think have a grasp of certain things. Oh, and isn't this movie the same story as that one Eureka episode? The farmer and his special crop of plants that puts people to sleep?
Okay movie, but I agree that the ending was a let down. "Sick....twisted...ferocious" might refer to the nachos in my local theater.
Don't know which reviews the commercial alludes to, but this one uses "ferocious". If they got "twisted" from this one, that's some serious cherry-picking indeed!
At first I heard that M. Night Shymalyan wasn't in it. so the obvious joke was "a movie so bad that MNS wouldn't cast himself in it". But then...
I've said before that M. Night has developed the "Stephen King problem". All buildup, but with no worthy payoff at the end.
So what happened at the end of the movie? Personally I don't care as I've no plans to go see it so spoil away!
Months later, the event starts up again in Paris as everyone in sight suddenly freezes and the wind blows the tree branches.
