Yeah, now that we are finally back at Camp Cupcake. When we were out for the last month at various COPs it got pretty rough. I was down to only once every other day or so. We were sleeping outside so no privacy there, and then the freakin portojohns were a sauna. I'd go in there, take off my PC, my blouse, my undershirt and half way through the wank, I'd have to take a break to wipe off all the sweat.


Ah to be back in my Chew with a bed, AC, and a roommate who shares a mutual understanding of "don't you need to go take a shower."

What is the use of the Stryker in modern mechanized warfare? I've read reports that it's merely to replace the HUMVEE, but does it serve a cavalry (reconnaissance) or an APC role?

If so, where does that leave the M2 Bradley and it's derivatives?

The Stryker fills/created the 'Medium Infantry' role. Faster than a Bradley, much much safer than a Humvee.

Yes there is a Cav version which I believe carries 4. We use the main version which carries 11, 9 dismount 2 crew. The purpose of the Stryker is to get an infantry squad somewhere very very quickly. Also with a 50 cal or Mk 19 it can provide overwatch for the dismounts.

I just worry that this shift towards "garrison" and "counter-insurgency" tactics isn't leaving us vulnerable to a traditional armored assault.
