China's got far more advanced parasitic lifeforms than Trump to worry about right now.

thanks for reminding me! I have an update on that BTW. But first the backstory to bring everyone up to speed: the army has TV's in dining areas, hospital waiting rooms, etc. But too many people (mostly the people running these areas not so much the customers/patients) said FOX news offended them. So they had to switch to CNN. :dayton:

Anyway the HMIC (post general maybe?) finally had the sense to say "fuck y'all! Now nobody will watch the news since it always ends up offending somebody!" So now they can officially only show sports programming.

I've never had a job where there was any TV station running... or any TV, for that matter. Had a couple of jobs where the dictate was "Look busy!" even if there was no work. Wrote five manuscripts in 3.5 years, because every time the boss's boss came through to stroll around and nod at people whose names he never knew I made sure I "looked busy."

Difference between corporate and what you do, I guess.

P.S. Two of those mss. sold. The other three were "Not what we're looking for, but thanks for stopping by."

Let me be clear - there are no TV's where I personally work. I'm talking about public areas on the army post like maybe the food court at the PX complex, newcomer processing areas, administration waiting areas, chow halls, etc. If it's a "common area" they can only show sports now. I guess if I had a TV or even radio on in my workshop and one of my customers got offended by what I was watching/listening to I'd have to turn it off or switch it to a sports channel.

The last US President to be impeached but not removed from office didn't even take a victory lap. He apologized to the nation for not being better.

Says a lot that the least you can do is "well, he shouldn't rub in in their faces to the point he cums in their eyes".

good question! Obama's first or second term? The first term I would probably vote for Trump because he's truly a guy with no political experience who might think outside the box and not play "politics as usual" so much.
But if Trump came along when Obama was running the second time then no...I would vote for Obama...because I would stick with a proven dependable, successful product. No sense switching horses in mid-stream so to speak. This is most likely a big factor in why (google the statistics if you doubt me) incumbents have an advantage in presidential elections.

Trump does not do much thinking outside the box, and he fails at tried and true methods of thinking inside the box. Three failed casinos means mismanagement of a statistically guaranteed system where the house always profits. Hell, slot machines are not just statistically guaranteed but actually rigged so overall the house will always profit even considering jackpots. Table games can run negative for the house for a certain duration, but when you consider multiple tables and a large number of bettors you really have to lose, as the house, to the high rollers, and have them walk away before giving back to the house.

This is a man who lost so much money he has not had to pay any taxes for decades. These were obvious facts that were around when you voted for him. This shows that his thinking outside of the box was pissing money away and cheating the system so poorly he failed. That is if you believe he is thinking outside the box. Thinking outside of the box and being successful may show a reason to elect someone who has had multiple success like a Bernie Sanders, but when you have failed so brilliantly that is a sign his ideas are failures.

For the simpleminded dipshits, aka trumptards, if some guy jumped off the golden gate bridge instead of driving safely across it like everyone else, would you follow that person because he thinks outside of the box? You are a fucking moron.

Just bad luck then, I guess, that the person Trump actually did run against was a completely unknown quantity with no political expertise or previous achievements.

Isn't it interesting that OF says he would have voted for Trump over Obama in 2008 because Trump was inexperienced in the ways of Washington and would offer new ideas, while a constant talking point for anti-Obama types has always been how inexperienced and unqualified he was.

Trump is right to fire them both. He needs people he can trust and clearly he can not trust either of the Vindman brothers.

Now that the whole impeachment scam is over he can clean house at the NSC.

Plus both Vindman's are going to be under investigation if they aren't already under one. The first one for his role in leaking the Ukraine call to the whistle-blower and the second one for almost assuredly being the one to leak Bolton's book to the New York Times.

What boggles my mind is retaliating against someone who didn't even take any action against you. I understand (though, totally disagree with) firing someone who has lawfully testified against you. That's human nature, albeit illegal.

But targeting their families is straight out of every authoritarian playbook and on a whole other level of illegality, immortality, and immaturity. How can anyone continue to defend Trump?

The list of reasons for asking that question is indescribably long, and was already very long well before the 2016 election.

I have to agree on this particular point only because even in a decent position there would be conflict and smooth operation would be important. You are just obvious at that point, and I would assume trump goes around you. They were gone from their positions when they testified and trump remained as president. Protection for them should be a sort of golden parachute. We are going to make sure you are taken care of financially and medically since that is an issue. Also we are not going to hold this against you with future presidents.

It is not a nice thing, but that is what he would do. That would go along with his ways, and everyone who is around him expects that. From the perspective of being a corrupt ass like trump is, yes you fire his family too. That is not how I would do things, but I am not trump.

@Zombie seems to support that sort of thing. That is just who he is and I am not surprised by that.

I would say "a proven record of competence" is relative. I mean "a proven level of competence in running a country". You may run a business (as Trump did) or be a community organizer or a senator or whatever and be very competent in that regard. Granted if you feel an incumbent is not running a country the way you think it should be run, then they are not demonstrating competence, they are just pissing you off. I feel Trump is running the country just fine - you obviously do not.

So for me - oldfella the voter - Trump is a proven winner. He has no serious competition, only minor opposition. Trump is a loudmouthed asshole - I don't disagree with you.
But I'm not marrying the guy, I'm paying him to run a country and he's doing just that to my satisfaction and the satisfaction of millions of other people.

Trump is unique because while he had no political experience he had enough potential, drive, and aggressive leadership/personality traits to function at the presidential level with a twist to it. He was not and is not "presidential" and obviously has no filter - this is what enough people were looking for in 2016 to counter Hillary who was just part of the political machine - same shit different day.
In 2016 millions rolled the dice and took their chances on Trump. Most of the Trump voters are satisfied enough to vote for him again, and I feel he will pick up millions more new voters among the undecided. I think too that the Democrats don't have a candidate with enough of a message or concrete plans or personality or whatever "X factors" are needed in 2020 to get people to the voting booth and check the D box. The Democrats need another Obama to win in 2020 and they don't have one.

Like him or not/hate him or not Trump is by many (not all) measures doing a good job and most people's lives are running like a well oiled machine. Some lives will never be no matter who is HMIC. It's obvious that life is not simple and running a country is far from simple. There are countless things to be done and ideas to come to fruition and wrongs to be righted and so forth. I get that!
But that voting booth is binary. You have a short time to check that box and you only get one choice for a HMIC vote. The pros and cons of both candidates fight it out in your brain (assuming you were on the fence when you entered) and you check a box. Pretty damn exciting when you think about it!

Both my parents never voted in their entire lives because "they're all a bunch of crooks!" :shakefist: To me that's just :(

yet he has not done this in his position of HMIC. This election is about what he's done in his position since 2016, what he will likely do in 2020, and what (if any) positive changes a Democrat will bring to the table. Not what positive ideas and philosophies :dayton: but what actions a Democrat will initiate or accomplish. I'm thinking a lot of Democratic voters might look at the current crop of candidates and say "2020 just isn't our time. :( It's hopeless! Let's just suck it up until 2024 and we have a better chance, because Trump is an anomaly that we can't beat." Just my prediction!

Nearly broke the economy with tariffs.

Has looted charities - look up the delays in paying what he said he would to Veterans' charities... he's been creaming the interest on those. And using his charities to pay off fines despite the fact he rarely pays into them, so he's using other folks' donations to cover his own legal fees/fines.

Swindled the taxpayer out of millions in SS payments to his own hotels to put them up. And had to be argued out of using his own properties for the next G20 rather than Camp David. Guy's enriching himself at the national expense all over your face like you're the latest girl on ExCoGi and you're not even blinking when it nearly goes in your eye.

    What family has been targeted?

Are you talking about his brother? Who also works at the NSC and is more than likely the person who leaked Bolton's book since he's the one it was given to to be vetted before publication?

Neither have lost their jobs in the army. They've simply been removed from the National Security Council. All their communications, computers, and assigned electronic devices have been or are being archived. All their passwords have been revoked.

Both are IMHO under investigation which explains their sudden removal from White House grounds and the seizing of their computers. Both were reported to have been shaken by the sudden removal which leads me to think that they probably were up to no good in the NSC. But it is possible they are clean and if so have nothing to worry about. Both are still in the Army and will serve until they leave or retire.

Frankly, Trump's biggest mistake with the NSC is that he should have cleaned house after his calls to the president and prime minister of Mexico and Australia were leaked. At that moment everyone on the NSC should have been fired.
