I'm aware of the Trinity test, et al., but if you think "exposing troops to deadly radiation" is equivalent to "testing a new drug (which has previously been tested in animal models) that could cure millions" is equivalent, I can't help you.

I said "could be" but it may not be the only reason why the military had the drug before the rest of the world. I don't know how long the FDA has been around - was it or an equivalent around in 1928?
Maybe there was no reliable agency to test new medications or hold developers accountable or whatever. My son was an army combat medic a few years ago and he said the military has pain killers that are way more effective than opioids and less addictive but their availability is very limited. Is it the cost? Is there an issue with the FDA? Are they testing them on the military? Is the military hoarding them for the next major war? We don't really know.

Good point. Probably the fuggin' FDA, which has regulations upon regulations in order to justify their own existence. (A) They're still spooked by the thalidomide horrors and (B) they're in cahoots with Big Pharma to find the maximum price they can charge for a drug before they release it.

The FDA was basically created in the late 20s and while the experiments which discovered penicillin happened in 1928, it wasn’t until sometime later, when Fleming’s students were looking through his lab notes that they realized what was going on. In the UK.

Furthermore, drug testing as we know it, didn’t start until about the 1950s. Before that, it was a scattershot method of trying the drugs out, with nothing like double blind testing at all. Not to mention having to figure out how to manufacture the drugs in large quantities.

It’s possible that they could have introduced the drug sooner, but probably not more than a couple of years, and getting doctors to prescribe a drug that seemed to have impossible powers would be a tough sell.

so far zero evidence has surfaced about Trump involved in any illegal sex stuff. He's under the Democratic microscope 24/7 and if they had anything tangible it hasn't been leaked (no piss tape pun intended) or brought into the public eye yet. Compared to JFK or Clinton for example Trump is squeaky-clean. Any cheating or hooker activity is a private matter between him & his wife.

But vaccines have been around since at least the 18th Century (can't be arsed to look it up, but the smallpox vaccine was one of the first and pre-dates the US). The polio vaccine was also the result of a concentrated effort by a large number of people, not a random accident. Additionally, people understood the kind of things that vaccines could treat, while it took some time to figure out exactly what penicillin was good for.

Indoor plumbing is what gave us the polio epidemics.
