The Impeachment of President Donald J. Trump

Ultimately a president has no choice but to accept his loss. There is no conceivable situation where he could remain in office if he lost the electoral vote.

Another question, why does it matter?

You think he won't step down?

It has happened many times around the world, including in recent times.

Automatic switching of nuke codes is hardly a safeguard against that given they are hardly the weapon of choice for a civil war.

I think he'll step down, he's not going to declare himself Emperor.

My inclination is that he will step down, albeit in such a manner as to make a pretense of doing so voluntarily.

I do, however, think that this is the first time in recent memory the conversation about a POTUS refusing to do so doesn't sound absurd. It would certainly fit with his previous statements and behaviours to simply ignore his defeat.

He's going to step down just like every President has, there's no indication otherwise.

A couple of local wackjobs might do something illegal, and I am sure there will be legal protesting, but for all their blister they are the most cowardly and craven group of people out there. Most of them are not even courageous enough to wear their MAGA hats out in public. The jails will get a few more Nazis in them, and we will all go on with life.

If there ever was a period where the law could not handle it you can bet there would be a lot of white trash corpses to be swept up, and this country would be purged of their presence. It is not the 1800s anymore when only white men were considered equal enough to own guns and be ready to fight. I heard all about how they were going to riot in the streets over the black president and for all their words of "not my president" they sure seemed to follow the law. The one group that went really crazy and took over government property just surrendered and are now the cell block bundy gang. Only one of them chose to die by cop and all his friends just let him.

I am sure he will take it all the way to the supreme court like his impeachment, but it won't due him much good when he is out. It is not like he has the loyalty to have the military and authorities follow him after losing.

oh please. no one is going to commit acts of violence just because President Trump loses an election.

And just what the hell is "Gunforge"? I don't know of any Wordforge members who are fanatical gun owners.

And you believe him? Why do so many of you people continue to take what President Trump says seriously or literally?

I haven't seen him saying anything about not stepping down or not accepting the results of the election.

Do you seriously think there are "millions" of people like that out there? Come on. I live in the middle or RedNeckistan and I can tell you there aren't. Not many are going to commit violence on behalf of some rich New Yorker no matter how much he appeals to their basest opinions.

He was bored with the job from Day One. As long as he can carry as much swag away for himself and his buddies when he checks out, he'll be happy to spend the rest of his life raking in the big bucks from "speaking" engagements and continuing to cheat on his golf scores.
