Eh. Consumers say they want healthy, but what they actually buy is another story.

BK should focus on flavour, quality and originality. Offer me something I can't get at other burger places (Wendys offers baked potatoes and chili as sides, I'll go there when I'm not in the mood for fries), and make it properly. I remember Kirk mentioning a while back about them microwaving their burgers. If I want a microwaved burger, I'll go to a gas station.

How about getting french fries that don't taste like cardboard??

    That might get customers back!

What they need to fix is their operations manuals and hiring standards.

Even by the low standards of fast food places, BK is consistently the dirtiest, worst run, slowest 'big' chain of them all. Only Subway has beaten them to the bottom in terms of hiring standards: the latter likes to hire former convicts, while BK's policy seems to think that slothful idiots with more tats and piercings than a rock star is the way to go.

I will readily admit that I can be influenced by marketing; sometimes consciously, sometimes not. But if I'm deciding among the likes of Wendy's, Taco Bell, Burger King, and McDonalds, I'll usually just pick the one that's closest.

Even Wendy's has gotten on the kick of mixing up their menus. A nice side salad instead of some crappy fries and I'm pretty happy (for fast food, that is). I haven't actually been to a BK in a long time even though I used to be a regular.

Anyone else see BK's real problem as they're charging $4.49 for a Whopper with some green shit on it? Not a Double Whopper, but a single and probably without cheese.

BK is doing the same stupid shit as Wendy's and Arby's: dumb-ass gimmicks instead of value. Of the big 3 (McD, BK, Wendy's), BK has the best burger (Whopper). But they surround them with crap (Mean Whopper?, Steakhouse Whopper?, California Whopper?), their fries taste like sticks, their workers are sub-Hardees level competent, and they haven't changes their facilities since 1984. Add to that they are fucking expensive and you have a model for failure, and no amount of gimmicks will change that.

BK needs to drop the crap from their burgers (Wendy's does too; I swear to God they must have a dartboard they use to make new Chicken sandwiches), change the fries (keep the Onion rings, they rule), maybe offer a few healthier choices like a side salad or fruit cup in the combos, and for shit-sake lower their prices. McD's is where it is because you can take a family of 4 there for a meal and not drop $30.

    That and get better workers.

While the rest hire future convicts!

I kid, I kid.....anyway I have no problem with hiring convicts as long as it's for non-violent offenses. I'm learning first-hand that with today's "computer screening" and other high-tech ways of screeining records and resumes even simple misdemeanors (jaywalking or cursing in public or walking on the freeway as I mentioned) will make getting any job an uphill struggle.

You wil never even get to the interview - the computer keywords in the resume/hiring program will knock you out of competition long before you ever get a chance to explain yourself person-to-person.

That might be the case where you live. Around here, their highest prerequisite is that the prospective employee must not speak English beyond the most rudimentary level.

    "I'd like a Double Stacker."
    "Joo whan whop-air?"
    "No, a Double Stacker."
    "Whop-air?"
    "Fuck, forget it."

Their ice cream costs 20p more than McDonalds and you get half as much. Let's see how they market that at the Mum's....

"Ice cream is unhealthy, so our smaller portions are actually beneficial to your children. And in order to maintain such high standards and responsibility to our customers, a small additional cost is unavoidable."

Burger King floats at the very bottom of the burger food chain, right alongside White Castle and Arby's as the very worst of what fast food has to offer.

Until they actually change the piss poor quality of their food, no amount of marketing is going to help.

Arby's is way better than most other fast food in my area. The problem with them is they cost more.

Chick-fil-a is my favorite right now, Arby's is OK. McD's, BK, and Taco Bell are icky.

If I want fast food, it's Chick fil-a, Backyard Burger, or Hardee's!!!

Plus the service is better at all three restaurants, they actually come around and ask if you need anything.

Chick-fil-A ROCKS! Food is excellent, service is FAST and helpful, cost is reasonable.

Arby's is yummy but too pricey and portions are too small (at least for chicken tenders). Plus What the Fuck is "Jamocha"?!? :wtf: Stick to normal flavors of shakes!

The only thing BK has going for it is flame-broiling and the onion rings. That's not enough to overcome expensive, slow, and filthy!

Oh, and while some may not like the actual food White Castle serves, they do what they do quite well. Totally consistent taste, generally quick service, decent quality.

Actually, for fast food burgers, I go to Rallys first, Wendys second, White Castle third, McDonalds fourth,...BK next to last, and Hardee's dead last!

At Burger King, a Whopper is $3.99. The regular sized Combo is $5.99. My favorite local BBQ joint is directly across the street. There, the best not-made-at-home Burger I've ever had is $2.59, $5.00 with fries/tots/onion rings, and a 32oz Sweet Tea.

Why in the world would I ever eat at Burger King?

In the UK BK's are actually quite good, better than the flaccid compressed sewage-inna-bun you get from McD's, although behind Subway.

We've also got Gourmet Burger Kitchen, but that's hardly fast food.

Of course the best place is Barburrito, but they're hardly a national chain having a few shops round Manchester :(

Not around here. They used to be when I was a kid (I loved the Big Twin), but now they are the last refuge for middle-school dropouts and toothless old hags. If it weren't for breakfast, there wouldn't be one open anywhere around here.

Here in Jersey we don't have any good burger places. None. Burger King, McD's and Wendy's. Wendy's is okay, but not great, while the other two are horrible.

This thread is giving me a serious craving for an In-N-Out Double Double!!!
