Point of order: We've actually done a lot to reduce the number of automobile-related deaths since the 60s. And right now, automobile fatalities are tied with gun deaths. Guess which one is easier to regulate.

Ban high-capacity cars. Your gas tank is now the size of a beer can. Much harder to crash if you can only drive around the block, and you're likely to run over WAY fewer people. And automatic transmissions? Multiple gears? Nobody needs that. You get a clutch and a one-speed transmission, the way the Framers intended. We wo n't even talk about cruise control. That's just for effortlessly running scores of people down at a rapid pace.

Also, the GOP fucking LOVE appealing court decisions when it's about cash or oppressing minorities, yet never consider that a guilty verdict might be wrong before offing some poor sumbitch.

Automobile fatalities are not tied with gun deaths. But don't just take my word for it:

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 52,898 people in the U.S. died from drug overdose in 2015.

In comparison, the Gun Violence Archive estimates that 13,502 Americans died from gunfire other than suicides, and the Insurance Institute For Highway Safety estimates another 35,092 Americans died from motor vehicle accidents in 2015.

And if you include suicides, then the number of gun deaths rises to 38,882. At least some percentage of single-car accidents are actually suicides, but there's no effort made to separate them out of auto-related fatalities.

We make efforts to reduce drug deaths by making Naloxone more available to people to save the lives. We're not exactly handing out bulletproof vests to people in areas with high amounts of gun violence.
