Who better to be the victims we can all see and say maybe I do not want to fall for such obvious scams today.

they are walking billboards for what not to do. We should be making PSAs around them.

    So wait.
The IRS actually wanted to be useful and possibly allow direct filing on their website, but by law or contract, lobbyists from vultures like Intuit had to be there and approve it?

    Gedafugouddahere wit dat :brood:

I'm beginning* to think that the IRS isn't the problem here.

    Ohhh, yeah.

ProPublica did a big investigation on it a couple of years ago. It is a breathtakingly ballsy piece of blatant rent-seeking.

Oh, you have no idea of the fuckery afoot. When the IRS first allowed folks to efile and do it for free (if you made less than $50K/yr) I always used the same site taxact.com (because that was one of the companies that the IRS suggested). Occasionally, I'd run into problems because TN is one of the few states without an income tax, so things would get kinda screwy when the site kept asking me if I wanted to file my state taxes with them as well. Still, I'd be able to file my Federal taxes with no problems and get my refund. This year, however, I start doing my taxes with them and before I can submit, they said something like, "You really need to pay us $29.95 to have us analyze your taxes for further deductions." Yeah, no. I don't have any other deductions that I'm missing, so I'm not paying you $30 just to tell me that I don't have any other deductions. The site wouldn't let me progress any farther unless I agreed to pay them $30 to tell me that I don't have any other deductions. So I said "Fuck that!" and went to the IRS' site to see what other companies they recommended. One of them was Intuit. I went, typed in a few bits of information (my basic info, and who my employer was) and they filled it all out (literally, I didn't have to type shit), said, "Here's what your refund is," I typed in my banking info, hit send, and a few weeks later I had my refund without spending a dime. I was planning on using them next year, but obviously not now. Fuckers.

Springsteen has always been a radical leftist. I am not surprised right leaning politicians and talking heads are only just now, 40 years later, actually listening to the words of his songs.

Brit comedian Jimmy Carr once pointed out that Stewart constantly looks like she has just farted, and now I can't unsee it.

Meh, Israel has self-driving patrol vehicles (Guardium) that care not for your human ice cream nonsense.
