Why do I need to disavow someone I've never supported to begin with? I don't watch any of those talking heads on any side of the political spectrum.....however the quotes I've seen here are generally stupid and inflammatory crap, whether it's Moore or Coulter.
Every movement has its loons and the Democrats have more than their fair share (MSNBC is the obvious example). Demands to "disavow" the moonbats reeks of a first-grade mentality. You are what you are and you believe what you believe because of you, not because of the fringe dwellers in your "movement".
Ah, so now Coulter and Beck and Limbaugh are "fringe dwellers." In terms of human sanity, you're correct. Yet you're willing to give them a global platform from which to represent your side to the world. Fine.
Ah, the notion that if you disagree with someone's speech you have an obligation to try and silence them, and if you don't then surely you really agree with them after all.
Watch them flip their shit when Obama wins again. The GOP is already setting up the "he stole the election!" meme claiming that "Romney is well ahead and will no doubt win" even though Obama is actually up in all the swing states and is so far ahead on the electoral vote count that it is obvious Romney can't win without it suddenly being found that Obama is a pedophile or something.
It's hilarious seeing people who've suggested all Moslems need to stand up and disavow extreme Islam are now saying it's not necessary to disavow conservative extremists because they never supported them in the first place. Can we assume such demands will no longer be placed on anybody else going forward?
The funny part is by the left and the media repeating what these shock artists say, they guarantee them getting heard by everyone, rather than just the small target audience that actually tunes in. Until the left holds themselves to the same standards(hello Bill Maher, Chris Mathews and every other nut on the left that says offensive things), they can piss off with their phony outrage.
So when you express outrage, it's genuine. Gotcha. Consequently your defense of the trolls on your side must also be genuine. Again, if you're content to let these people speak for you, that's fine.
It sounds like you are referring to me, which is interesting since I've never called for Islamics to disavow extremists, although I am very happy when they do. It's often too dangerous for them to do so, and I get that. I'm not, and never have been a republican. I also don't watch those shows, and yet garamet seems to think I need to disavow them. Why? What possible difference does it make? I don't watch or pay attention to that shit because I think it's stupid. How much more disapproval does one need?
Nah, wasn't referring to anybody in specific. This thread stimulated the thought, but I've seen it all over the place, just felt like leaving the comment.
