This one is available on PC, Mac, Xbox 360 and PS3 and is a downloadable title from TellTell Games. Episode 1 is available now with 4 more episodes to follow this "season." Pretty freakin' good, IMHO.

It's more of an "interactive story" than a full on video game, IMHO, but it suits this title well considering the subject. Scenes in the life of Lee Everret, convicted murderer is shown before you and you make decisions that actually effect the decisions made by people you encounter all in the backdrop of the Zombie acpocolypse that we all are fimiliar with in the comics and TV show. These events are canon and happen concurrently with the Rick/Shane/Lori group of the TV series. There are even some characters that are in both.

Pretty good, as I said before. I'm going to play Episode 1 again soon to see what the outcome will be if I make totally diffeent decisions. I highly reccomend it for those of you who are fans of the show/comic, or just gamers in general. :techman:

LOL!! Carl's not in the game... Yet! But that's the beauty of making the story interactive. You make decisions that effects the other's behavior. Tie Carl's ass down. Zombies out to kill Lori and Dale at the same time? Fuck it! Save Dale because he's semi usefull and use Lori as Zombie bait. I really got a kick out of this.

Check out this article on IGN about it: Minor Spoilers!

I just downloaded this the other day, I had some left over points to throw around and I figured what the hey. I was actually pleasantly surprised, it was pretty cool. Totally dug the graphic style it was done in. Played through the whole thing in one evening, now I need to go through and make new choices, see what changes. I'm kind of excited to see what the next chapters are going to bring.

Just downloaded this game and played it all in one evening. Awesome. :techman:

I like how it tells you at the end of the episode what choices other players made. Looks like I made the unpopular choice by saving Duck at Herschel's farm.

I've always liked Telltale's games as they're not your typical mindless shooter a la Call of Duty. (Make no mistake, despite the total awesomeness of COD they are mindless shooters.)

I particularly liked the Back to the Future series, although the graphics in Walking Dead are much better.

Downloaded episode 2 and plowed through it in one sitting.

Wow. Think I made some bad choices. This episode, the decisions you're faced with are much more difficult than the first episode. I'm also pissed that I didn't get to Clementine in time to stop her from eating... mainly because the game gives you so little warning as to what's next.

I could also predict what was going on with the farm almost from the beginning, but it was still done very well.

    Overall, excellent stuff. :techman:

Can't believe I have to wait another 1-2 months for episode 3. :(

 I just finished it. Ew!

You're right Borgs... Very predictable, but it doesn't take anything away from the entertainment value. That was right up there with the best of the best TV episodes! Tougher choices than the first one and much better!

I made some pretty unpopular choices my first time around. I made a choice to play the game as Lee, the convicted murderer looking for redemption, but I kept injecting myself into it and thinking about what I would do. I'll start another playthrough where it's all about me.

[spoilers]I killed bothe of the St. Johns Bros. and only 17% of players did that. I did not help to kill Larry, but I'm glad he's gone. He was so annoying.

Funny thing... With Mark being the unannounced new character, I should've known he was going to end up dead. In the woods, I was honest with him and told him that Larry thought I was a danger to the group. Even though I could've lied and said he was a racist. When Mark blabbed his mouth, Larry still acted as though I lied.

At some point, I hope the developers give me a chance to reveal to the group that I'm a convicted murderer. I'd like to let them know. It will be interesting to see how they react since I killed both the St. Johns Bros. I'll play again and not kill them just in case they give me a chance to do that.

Oh yeah... and Kenny? What an asshole! This guy will always make a decision that is the easy or obvious choice for him and his family without regard to the rest of the group and disguise it as him making "the tough choices." if he leaves, I won't go with him.[/spoilers]

I made some different choices than you and it sounds like, based on your spoilers, the gameplay may be much more linear than otherwise thought. That is, your decisions don't really have much of an impact (unless something dramatically different happens in the coming episodes...)

That would suck if true, but I still think it's a great game!

Anyway, I'm going to run through episodes 1 and 2 again and make some different choices.

Just ran through episode 1 again and made completely different choices than the first time. My first time around, I tried to be diplomatic and made decisions based on my own instinct. The second time, I was a right prick and made decisions that were contrary to my own instinct.

Going to replay episode 2 next, but so far the story seems pretty linear regardless of what decision you make (the only exception being Doug vs. Carley). It's still early days, though, and hopefully your decisions will have more influence in future episodes.

Yeah. I have yet to see a game with a branching story actually deliver on leaving you in a totally different outcome based on decisions you make. A big part of that lies in the question of where do you go from there? If choices made is Chapter 2 leads you in totally different events and outcomes, how could developers possibly know where to start in Chapter 3? The different branches have to converge at some point. In that regard, I say it's about the journey and not the destination.

One game that really has me intrigued about its next sequel is Playstation's inFAMOUS franchise.

[spoilers] At the end if inFAMOUS 2, in your good karma playthrough, your character Cole McGrath dies saving the day. In the evil karma playthrough, your best buddy and sidekick Zeke Dunbar sacrifices himself. [/spoilers]

I am so interested in how they will begin the inevitable sequel.

Regarding The Walking Dead Chapter 2 differences, I'm interested to see how a particular choice in Chapter 1 may change an outcome
    In Chapter 2:

[spoilers]Carly is a very good shot. That's the main reason why I chose to save her over Doug in Chapter 1. In chapter 2, there's a poi t where Carly saves my life twice. I really wonder if events will be the same playing with Doug. I have a save where I saved Doug, but I will give it a few weeks before I play it since the next Chapter is at least a month away.[/spoilers]

I really wish they'd pick up the pace on the release schedule. At this rate, we won't get Episode 5 until late October- early November. Which just might coincide with the return if the TV show. I'm actually enjoying the game a lot more and I hope they decide to do a "Season 2" of the game at this point.

The PC version allows you to save multiple games, so once I've played Episode 2 I'll actually have two concurrent games going with different choices. It should be easy to identify where the story branches, if it all.

    STOP THE PRESSES!!

Activision is working on a first person action game of The Walking Dead. You get to play as Daryl and Merhle from the TV show.

I wonder if you get to blurt out racial epithets if you run into a black survivor?

    :wtf:

So long as it isn't just mindless FPS action but involves a decent story and some level of problem-solving (think Half-Life) then I'm totally on board.

    Why wouldn't you be?

Daryl and Mehrle are racists. This isn't a passive racism either. For once, I can see Alphaman's point.

However, I doubt they'll have this focus on racism at all, so I think I'll play.

If I want to play a first person version of the Walking Dead I'll just crank up some Left 4 Dead.

Yeah... for starters, I have no interest in playing as Merhle. Daryl is OK sometimes, but...

the funny thing is that Call of Duty Black Ops actually had Merhle as a playable character in it's Zombies mode for a mission and I never thought about it. I guess there may be a way to pull this off.

Secondly, the only diffeence between The Walking Dead and Left 4 Dead is that the Walking Dead is more about how the Zombie Apocalypse effects the survivors and Left 4 Dead is all about blasting away some Zombies. Telltale is hitting all the right notes on that and I'm totally down for some Left 4 Dead 3..... I just don't know if it'll work as a Walking Dead game.

I think it could be interesting. Merhle (is that really how it is spelled?) Was basically only shown to us in two scenarios:

    1. Cornered by a bunch of zombies and high on cocaine.
    2. Cornered by a bunch of zombies and delirious.

Merhle was no doubt a racist, but it would be interesting to see if they show the apocalypse cutting away the years of racist thinking. A disaster has a way of doing things like that - for example, if a racist white guy has to depend on a black guy.

I think it could be interesting to see if the non-cornered, non-drugged up non-delerious Mehrle becomes less racist over the course of the game (of course, he reverted but keep in mind people do that when they're cornered and high). We have certainly seen Daryl become less racist.

    Did I make any sense?
