Nice look, really fast, still getting used to the navigation, but overall @Tamar Garish Very well, let's start small. I'll be generous and assume you've simply forgotten (the event was over a year ago), but in fact you were the one who initiated the conversation. I didn't ask you for anything; you volunteered the information. I've saved the PMs. Do I have your permission to post them (with the name redacted, of course)?
I have an automatic spell-checker, that is nothing I installed. It likes "color" but doesn't like "colour"...
Can I rid myself of the "Click to Expand" option on long posts? And is it possible to disagree with a post?
We're working on the rep system, @RickDeckard. As for the Click to Expand option, can you expand on what you want -- the ability to turn it off/on, or to have the truncated posts as default, or have the full quote pyramid as default?
Now that it's in full use, I have to say I really enjoy the feel of the new board. And it's fast! And shiny! And works much better on a tablet than the old one! Looking good.
Wordforge should not be hosting your board. Especially the "Bronies" part of it. We've already got Media Central and the Red Room which can handle those type of threads from your other rooms.
Apparently you missed the memo, Zombie. Starscape merged with WF. They have their little private corner in which they can feel like they're still on their old board.
Apparently you missed the part where a disgusting thing "Bronies" is now attached to this board. Adults should not be "Bronies". It's creepy no matter how much they try and justify it. I ignored John's like of it because he's simply one person but now there's going to be multiples of them AND they have a section for it? And frankly they don't need their own corner. Post with the rest of us.
Meh, I wouldn't worry about the Bronies... or Furries. If it ain't your cup of tea, just don't worry about it. As for having the post with the rest of us, back at the end of 2003, Lonaf had an influx of members from another board, a group that frequented a forum called the Chaos Wastes. We set up a refuge forum for them, where they flourished. At some point, it was decided that they should integrate with the rest of the board, so their forum's contents was dispersed amongst the rest of Lonaf. The Wastoids slowly stopped posting. Let the Starscapers have their corner, but encourage them to mingle with us up here.
Having watched the show myself, it's not bad. I wouldn't call myself a bronie (sp?) but to demonize people just because they enjoy a particular TV show is a tad bit ridiculous.
A brony is a fan of the TV show "My Little Pony." Like just about any other fan base, Bronies reflect every walk of life. Men, women, children; and in that group, highly skilled professionals (Doctors, lawyers, businessmen, and the like) as well as unskilled (factory workers, customer service people, etc.). There are quite a few military Bronies as well. There are a myriad number of reasons why someone might like the show (animation, the characters, interest in production work, stories, and so on), but most people like the message, which talks about having friends being one of the most important things you can accomplish in life. The show stresses certain aspects of friendship: Generosity, honesty, loyalty, laughter, kindness, which create the "magic" of friendship. The show is very positive and upbeat, lacking most levels of cynicism (which is one of the reasons why I like it), and the characters are fun and silly. It's something people of all ages can enjoy, and that's something the creator of the show, Lauren Faust (Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, The Powerpuff Girls) had in mind when she began work on the series several years ago. Since then, the fan community has become more about love, tolerance and acceptance towards people of every stripe. The show's not just some mindless saccharine sweet pablum that passes for programming, either. It has a straightforward storyline for the kids, and lots of easter eggs for older viewers, one of my favorites being this: The point is, it's harmless. What bothers many people is that many fans go against the current popular gender culture; e.g., men who buy the figures, go to conventions, and wear pink shirts with "Smile!" on the front. This gets them plastered with the label "pedophile," or "gay." It makes some people uncomfortable, and yes, some Bronies just run around trolling others who dislike the show simply to do so, and that's wrong, but most of them, myself included, wish nothing against anyone. So that's the long and short of it. Sorry for rambling.
@John Sorry dude, I've never had a problem with your wordforge posting style but come on to fuck! My Little Ponies? My sister used to play with them when she was 8 years old. Forget the justifications you give, its just wierd. Do you have the toys?
Forgetting about little girls toys for a minute, when I clicked the smilie icon the browser had a meltdown. Granted I am forced to use IE at work, so maybe that is the issue??
Women are finally being given equality (or they're rightfully taking it), where they can like the things that men like (though there are still some holdouts on both sides). Welcome to the flipside of that coin.
It is kinda strange that there is a place for "Bronies" yet the White Room was vetoed. No I don't care about the White Room one bit, I'm quite adept at finding an kind of pr0n I want on the interwebs. But to a neutral observer looking at porn would be considered a more normal thing than grown men having a thing for My Little Pony. That's just weird, no matter how you slice it.
