Now let's reverse it. Shooter was black and SUV full of white kids. Guarantee if that crime scene was left unsecured and no gun was found there would be an epic shit-storm - the shooter would have gotten off like O.J. because the burden of proof bar would have been sky-high. After Zimmerman there's no way a white killing a black will ever get off free and clear again. And in FLORIDA too? Dunn would have gone to prison even if they had found a gun. Did the kid actually pull the trigger first? Was he a scared schoolboy intimidated by a crazy (he did raise his voice at one time) white man?

Every state has the exact same laws/legal procedures and sentencing guidelines? You do know that the burden of proof for self defense varies among states I would think.
In some states an assailant has to have a weapon in a position to actually employ the weapon before it's considered a threat. Maybe witnesses could testify that the kid can't hit shit with a shotgun, only used it for show, never loaded it, etc. And was the shotgun pointed exactly at the guy or just waved around awkwardly? There are countless ways somebody displaying a gun can be interpreted.
And combine that with a shitty lawyer and asleep at the wheel judge and you get railroaded.

But when no one else saw a gun in the car, the shooter didn't mention a gun until several days after the fact, and no gun was used in response after the shooter opened fire, I think it's safe to discount the existence of a gun in the car.

You do know this is Florida? I live in Florida? I carry in Florida? I have a CCW in Florida? I'm a LEO (Corrections) in Florida? That I've read and know front and back the laws regarding use of force and weapons within Florida? That I've had training? (if you didn't then now you do.....)

Since this happened in Florida I stand by what I said. If the kid had an actual shotgun and pointed it at him then he would be justified in shooting and no jury would find him guilty. The state would be retarded to try and charge him in the face of such evidence unless the state had absolute proof that he (the shooter) started the confrontation.

Yes, that is how things work in Georgia too. You can shoot pretty much anytime you are legitimately threatened. But not in all states, that's what I am saying. I have cops in my family/peers too
and many of us have military experience. Guns-a-plenty in other words. No concealed carry permit because I work in a gun-free zone (military base) so don't have a gun at all.
And I must disagree that asking someone to turn down their music doesn't invite a confrontation in my part of Georgia anyway. I think these kids (or at least one) was from Marietta GA (part of Atlanta).
I would guess these kids are used to acting just like they did when asked to turn down their music, and have probably done exactly what they did (cursing, threatening, racial slurs, and other forms of intimidation) countless times. Maybe things are different in your neighborhood, but a 47 year old white male better "stay in his lane" or get an ass beating at the least, asking a vehicle full of young black men to turn down their music. Most of us know better, so I don't know what Dunn's problem is. A 47 year old should not be looking for trouble.
