Now why would you go and say that? Seriously, have I ever called for the killing of people simply because they are black? You really hurt my feelings this time.
nobody on word forge has ever advocated killing black people. But not agreeing with the left pretty much implies that you have, if you "read between the lines" enough. The left are great at that! I think they have professional training in it or something.
Well, if you have students defend the KKK, they might learn it isn't so bad after all. False. They would learn that it is terrible.
To have them defend the KKK you would need to go back to the 20s (second incarnation of the KKK) or back to reconstruction (first incarnation of the KKK). The third incarnation of the KKK (Civil Rights era to today) is too much of a joke to bother with. There is really no way to say just how powerful the second incarnation of the Klan would've gotten if the Grand Wizard of Indiana had not beaten his girlfriend to death. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D._C._Stephenson
Extremist groups are part of American history. Just as I'm interested in the Pinkerton's battles with the unions because its part of my family history.
Besides, there was a really good television movie back in the 1980s IIRC about D.C. Stephenson, the murder and outcome. IIRC Lloyd Bridges played Stephenson's high powered lawyer while Ed Begley Jr. played the young and supposedly outgunned prosecutor. Stephenson and David Duke (Louisiana) had some interesting similarities including real charm and a gift for making connections with other powerful people.
Everyone who studies American history, especially the Civil War and Reconstruction should be well versed in the history of the Klan.
That is complete BS and you well know it. I can't quote the Seneca Falls declaration or explain the significance of the Stonewall Riots but everything else I'm pretty well versed in.
Perhaps. But that first incarnation of the Klan was more openly violent than the later two versions. The second incarnation was much more politically astute.
