Trans activists failing to persuade people on the sports issue

You know, if someone is so obsessed with winning that they're willing to chop important parts of their body off, then do you really think that saying that they can't compete in this or that sport is going to stop them? Don't you think that someone so intent on their winning is going to find ways around every law you erect against them?

I'm reminded of this scene from "Malice," when Alec Baldwin and Bill Pullman talk about cutting off one's finger for $1 million.

 

Remember that wave of gay rapes that happened in sports and the military once they became inclusive?
Remember how all the gay rape victims died of AIDS?
Remember how we lost a whole entire generation to the gay-rape-AIDS?

We have had these exact same arguments before.

Remember when blacks had to be in separate bathrooms and schools because they might rape white people?

Remember when blacks were not allowed to compete against white in sports because it was unfair because black people were to athletic? They all cared for fairness and tried to use science to claim that blacks were genetically bread to be stronger than whites, but they could not prove that there was any legitimate advantage despite all their sciency arguments about black people being larger and stronger.

Remember when white people were supposed to be able to tell black people how to live because they were more normal and intelligent and black people had mental problems and were not normal?

People like @Demiurge, @Bill Carson , and @Uncle Albert are pulling their arguments straight from the adolf hitler racial superiority handbook, and we are supposed to argue this same unsupported prejudiced bullshit again, and not point out this is the same exact lie meant to demonize trans people we have heard all of our lives about blacks?

This is not just some idiot making a oopsie in applying science poorly with cherry picked data and biased or incomplete testing that makes a wrong conclusion. This is an attempt to villainize the trans community for wanting to play a fucking game with their peers or use the god damned bathroom.

Then @Rincewiend comes over and tries to complain we are not taking the people trying to preach against our presence in society in the same way racist america and the world tried to claim blacks were an inferior species that needed to be helped by good old moral god fearing whypipo seriously.

Here's the problem with that, like so very much other reactionary moral panics we're living through right now:

The reactionaries are few, but LOUD. Most people are not interested or aggrieved but they are living their life and unheard.

Same as it was with restrooms, the VAST majority of cis women are FINE with trans women in their spaces but absent specific surveys you don't hear from them, but by god you DO hear from the christofascist bigot minority.

Moms for Liberty? Most moms in their own damn communities resent them because they presume to speak for the majority who do NOT in fact agree with them. Book banners are a TINY proportion - some 60% of all books pulled via complaints were objected to by less than TWENTY women nationwide.

And so it is with sports, how many swimmers at that meet where Lia Thomas won that championship spoke up to object? Like...TWO if I recall correctly? There were presumably dozens or more competing but do we see stories that point out "@ Swimmers out of fifty complained"?
No. The loud bigots get the amplification.

So if we say "ask women athletes" that's well and good if we're resolved that the heckler's veto doesn't prevail, as it has so far in many other settings. But from the reactionary view, if ANYONE objects, well, too bad, they win.

 

Define "large numbers"

Because they are most certainly NOT a very large proportion of female athletes, elite or otherwise.

I'm not attempting to address all your posts in the last couple of days here I'll just reiterate a couple of foundational principles that i don't think have been refuted.

A. Trans girls/women have been competing AS women for 20+ years.
B. In all that time it was in no sense a discussion of public controversy until the last 2-4 years. literally no one spoke in objection to it publicly.
C. Meanwhile, the (reasonable) hypothesis that trans women would dominate was field tested hundreds if not thousands of times and...they didn't. An objective scientific reaction would be to abandon or revise the hypothesis, but anti-trans campaigners have NO interest in objective conclusions. Instead they magnify sever outliers as a problem and find a small handful of cis women to express complaints...that they somehow never brought up until ADF or some other christofascist outfit came along and convinced them they cared.
D. Laws on this matter routinely apply K-12 which is irrational if they REALLY only cared about the theorized advantages conferred by male puberty.
E. Trans girls don't WANT male puberty, and if the treatment they seek and prefer were available to them the problem - such as it is - would disappear entirely in a couple of decades. But the christofascists don't want THAT to be the case either.

In summation, it's one thing to say in a vacuum "I suspect that there may be an unfair advantage here that maybe we should address" and watching ALL that bad faith bullshit roll through our culture and STILL concluding "maybe the christofascists have a point."

You do not see me giving a fuck about deflate gate. No one was being thrown out of the game based on prejudice, so I don't care. I did not go around sticking my nose in it despite the reality I think rules and fairness are important to competition. It is their game. If they were saying black guys couldn't compete because they were too big and strong genetically, which people have said in the past, I would have cared to see them play because that is bigotry. Here we go that demiurge and the anti-trans crowd want to throw trans girls out of sports because of false claims that they are overpowered.

That is fucking bigotry. It is not about fairness because demiurge has no passion for any other sport fairness. Has he written pages about deflate gate? Just like me he doesn't care even though there is a huge debate about fairness. Deflate gate has effected far more professional athletes in huge money situations, and a huge industry of sports betting which should be fair, but there is nothing from the guy who just cares about fairness so much he has written pages upon pages of arguments to kick trans kids out of sports.

Proof to me that demiurge is a fucking anti-trans bigot. He can go cover it up in all the rest of the lies and claims he wants. His actions prove he is not a warrior of fairness in sports because he does not fight about it. He only fights about trans participation.

The entire concept of predatory trans women with massive diamond cutting erections trying to fuck everyone they see comes directly from porn. There's also the whole subgenre of "sissification" porn, where predatory trans women are actively trying to brainwash innocent straight cis people into becoming gay or transgender themselves.

Maybe certain segments of the population would be less paranoid about trans people if high school sex ed was more thorough and included tips like "porn isn't real life, those actors are getting paid to do those things and they're following a script."
