Trump signs new immigration order: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-39183153

Main diffs from 1.0: Iraq off the list; permanent residents and those with existing visas are good to go (or come); no religious discrimination.

And as a heads up: the ban will take effect on 16 March. Just gotta hope no bad people make it in before then!

This is an improvement, but Saudi Arabia is still not on the list.

I'm glad Sadi Arabia isn't on the list.

But I am concerned that Trump omitted it's evil counterpart, Saudi Arabia.

Why is Iraq off the list an improvement?

There's arguably been more terrorist attacks there than anywhere else on the planet over the last decade.

Iraq not being on the list is a disapointment, but getting rid of the ban on green card and visa holders is an improvement.

It's not an improvement; it's a train wreck.

The Trump administration tried to gussy-up and legitimize the Executive Order by quoting sections of the State Department's most recent Country Reports on Terrorism. If these guys were truly serious, why did they leave out at least eight countries identified as terrorist safe havens?

I think it had to do with a fairly large number of Iraqis who worked with U.S. troops finding themselves endangered by not being allowed to flee to the United States.

As if the US government gives a fuck about keeping the Iraqi government happy.

Interesting. Usually gun freaks hoot at bans by reminding you that the bad guys can always get around them. Yet here we have people taking seriously the idea that an official ban on Whoever is going to change things one way or another.

But Saudi Arabia's absence is the equivalent of a bullhorn shouting "Whatever you do, don't take this thing seriously!"

I call that a mass delusion. The dog whistles do not correspond with reality and can only be heard if you drink the kool aid.

Iraq is off the list because it agreed to better vetting procedures for visas.

Religious discrimination and trouble for green card holders were my two biggest problems with the first order. This one seems mostly fine.

Presumably some guy (who shall remain nameless) told Trump that travel bans, like torture, work. They absolutely work. And will Trump claim he was right if there end up being no terrorist attacks on US soil while this ban is in effect? I mean, that would be compelling evidence, eh?

    1) Who says they work? Either of them.

    2) When did Donald ever need Actual Facts on which to base his claims? He just makes claims and his followers lap 'em up.
My feeling is that the Bannon/Trump duo (while shedding crocodile tears) would positively welcome a major outrage that scared the shit out of everybody. It would be their Reichstag Fire.

Donald would say "Well, I did everything I possibly could and the liberals fought me tooth and nail, so it's their fault. That's a fact -- it's true."

And his ratings would soar, as they did for that sorry bonehead Dubbya after 911.

Hey look at this: A Muslim Gold Star father who famously offered to lend Donald Trump his copy of the U.S. Constitution has cancelled a scheduled speech in Toronto because “his travel privileges are being reviewed,” according to the event organizer. (...)

The guy is a freaking US CITIZEN, and has been for 30 years.

If this is true, it's clearly illegal.

Well, ethically dubious, but probably legal. Anyone, including U.S. citizens, can have their travel privileges revoked or reviewed. That's the state of our nation in 2017 thanks to the events of 9/11/01.

I bet you were stupid enough to believe Chuck Schumer's fake song and dance back during the first travel ban. Chuck found an Indian Muslim athlete who had been denied a visa, Chuck Schumer than sprang into action declaring this Indian athlete was some how a victim of "Trump's Muslim ban", and made sure he was given a special visa to enter the US. The problem was:

    1) Indians were never subject to the ban (Chuck Schumer is bad at geography).

    2) This guy was denied a visa because the Indian government shared info showing he had twice been convicted of forcible gay pedophile rape of a minor. Not because of the travel ban.

    3) And here is the kicker...While at this sporting event in upstate NY the Muslim forcibly abducted and raped a 12 year old American girl. Right in the hotel pool.

Fuck Chuck Schumer and fuck idiots like you.

I'm truly convinced that Schumer, Reid, Pelosi are the real reasons behind the fall of the Democrats. They keep dumbing down on the stupid with the same old talking points we've heard for almost twenty years now.

For those of you interested in the story, and desire to find out about it from a source not drenched in hate semen, I offer a non-Milo Yiannopoulos/Daily Caller/JihadWatch link: https://www.washingtonpost.com/worl...799758-d1ad-4cd5-8673-8459b7c2768e_story.html

If the man is guilty, then prosecute to the full extent of the law and beat him with a rubber hose. If he's not guilty, then Dinner will have to find some other Muslim to masturbate to as he wraps bacon around his dick. His tiny, hate semen filled dick.

Only if by "a piece of shit" you mean "not a bigot," and "living in a fantasy world" means "who explores nuances without engaging in an invective frenzy of xenophobia."

Seriously, why do you think your opinion matters here? I don't listen to David Duke's opinion on anything, why would you get any credence either?

Yep, a complete fantasy world where anyone who disagrees with your raving nonsense automatically gets labelled something bad. It's ok, everyone knows how your retarded game is played so you aren't fooling anyone.

Best of all you are no longer in a position to pull your bull shit little authoritarian games like before.

I'm not the only one who knows you're a bigot. Honestly, you're the most bigoted person I've ever consistently interacted with on a message board.

I voluntarily stepped down. It was met with a request not to go. I chose to step down because I value this community, and the people in it. Well, most of them. I also wanted to just be a regular poster again.
You are free to call it a victory if you like.

Anyone, including U.S. citizens, can have their travel privileges revoked or reviewed ..... until a court does the obvious and kicks the state in the balls (i.e. declares the action illegal), opening the way for a huge lawsuit.

Assuming that courts will still work in the US.

Anyone can have their travel privileges revoked or reviewed in accordance with whatever criteria -- and those criteria must exist -- govern this right to revoke or review.

Or should we believe that it's entirely arbitrary and the authorities can do whatever the fuck they want with not explanation?
