I just found out about this over at the Classic Horror Film Board. It's a new movie called Trick 'r Treat. This looks to be lots of fun and some good scares / jumps without a whole lot of gratuitous gore. [YT="Trick 'r Treat teaser trailer..."]EYkUYWmZkEs[/YT] This has the look of being a seasonal classic, I'm so going to see this.
OK, I just did a little more digging. It seems that this flick was in the can and even played very well with the crowd in Austin at Ain't it Cool's Butt-Numb-a-Thon in the same spot movies like Fellowship of the Ring and Iron Man had. Rumor has it that Warner's pulled it from release last year 'cause they didn't want to compete with Saw IV. And now, it looks like except for a few isolated screenings, they're going straight to DVD with this because they're not sure how to market it. Duh, roll it out about a week before Halloween, dumbasses! And while the tie-in book is available, collectibles from Sideshow too, there's no word of exactly when the flick is being released even to DVD.
Damn, that looks like its actually a GOOD horror movie. Shame it didn't have blood-covered tits in it, then they might have released it.
You Tube a nine minute clip of one of the stories, so here's a taste for everyone who might be interested... This movie finally hits DVD today, my copy is en route from the good folks at DVD Empire, but I may get impatient and double-dip this one. Here's the current trailer, I don't know if the comic panels were originally part of the flick, but they do add to the Creepshow factor. [YT="New Trailer for Trick 'r Treat"]0jh0DwJZjz8[/YT]
Finally got my copy of this Friday afternoon, watched it with some friends that night, a good scary, funny time was had by all. The stories are much more closely linked than I thought, and the story weaves in and out in some pretty neat ways. Warners really screwed the pooch by not giving this flick a theatrical release.
