Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffansperger (who still wants to impose photo ID requirements that would disenfranchise a lot of the "wrong" voters) speaks out about the nutzoid reaction of Trumpistas to his handling of the election and refusal to block certification of the vote. “I am a Republican, and a conservative one. And I believe that I'm going to be disappointed, because I don't believe that my candidate is going to win,” Raffensperger said in an interview this week, before Georgia certified its results. “But that said, I want 100 percent of people to have confidence in the results. I'm not gonna like it. And I'm gonna have to take that medicine, just like everyone else in my party will, but it will be an accurate count.”
Just a reminder that SCOTUSblog is not run BY the Supreme Court or its admin staff, but by a team of lawyers who make it a point to watch and report on SC cases/business. https://www.scotusblog.com/about/
Meanwhile, the True Believers have an actual print source of "news" in addition to OAN - The Epoch Times. They're positively peeing themselves with delight over Sidney Powell's antics in Michigan. The Epoch Times, BTW, is owned by Falon Gong. Their tagline? "You are likely not getting accurate news from the standard media sources, so it is critical that we send you Breaking News emails so that you can stay informed with the facts and form your own opinions."
Plural? I got the one that was a "special report" about how Coronavirus was all the Chinese Communist Party's fault, but nothing after that.
From what I heard on C-SPAN radio, Biden is only getting transition briefings because Harris is on the intelligence committee. That’s not good.
Well, it's good that she's on the intelligence committee. Wait for some Trumpanzee to try to block her.
Awww, now, come on. At least the Jehova's Witlesses are fun to talk to, with their amazingly ill-informed version of scripture. Not quite as good as those Mormon types who come around wanting to talk and are willing to help you rake the yard and whatnot, but amusing.
If you actually engage with JW's in a way that make them think they may have you on the hook, it gets really weird.
It's true. Back when I lived in Staten Island (about a thousand years ago), there was a lovely young woman who used to visit me regularly. My neighborhood was 99.4% white, but they sent this sweet young black woman to, I guess, earn her wings. At a guess, most of my neighbors either didn't answer the door or slammed it in her face or, at best, told her to get lost. I answered the door. She was so grateful I wanted to weep for her. We sat on my stoop (that's "front steps" to you non-NYers) and we talked. I told her I'd been raised Catholic but as an adult decided it didn't make sense and, while she would never convert me, I listened to what she had to say. I never made a commitment. She left me with copies of The Watchtower free of charge and went on her way. She'd come back every few months, and I always answered the door. I think she was so grateful that some white lady stopped to listen to her that she couldn't help coming back and hoping to convert me. That had to be over 30 years ago. I've wondered what happened to her. But it was a lovely encounter with a sweet, sincere young woman, and a poke in the eye to my snotty bigoted neighbors.
The JWs (or "the jay-dubs" as I like to say) are actually pretty wink-wink dog-whistle racist. I got a copy of Watchtower once, and all the painted illustrations depicted all the villains as black people. It wasn't flat out open Klan-ery, but it wasn't exactly in secret code either. J-Dubs and Mormons are second only to Southern Baptists for that shit. I always shake my head in confusion to see them get black members. What line of bullshit did they fall for?
Me too! I liked the edition where they decided COVID-19 should be called the "CPC Virus" (Communist Party of China).
Having a great rapport with judges and even getting food and drink recommendations from them when things are off the record doesn't mean that your case is going to go well.
