Armed forces pick him up bodily and carry him out of the White House. (Carefully. Secret Service still has to protect him, for 10 years I believe.) All armed forces in the US are sworn to the constitution, not to the president. If according to the constitution he is no longer president, then he is trespassing if he tries to stay in the Oval Office. He would be removed forcibly.

    No big deal.

The cynics among us worry that individual members of the armed forces might choose to obey direct orders from their Trump-supporting superiors over the constitution. :async:

See, you're never this hesitant when it comes to specifically defending the civil rights of Nazis and white nationalists. Don't think we haven't noticed.

A back woods country bred from criminals such as Australia would do that.

What happens when Trump uses the same DHS security forces (including deputized mercenaries) he used in Portland and other cities to put down protests BEFORE Biden is sworn in? Do they just stay in the barracks until the clock runs out and then step in? What if the protests have been stomped out at that time and Biden is in jail for election fraud?

Also, what happens to the DoD civilian leadership (which Trump is now stacking with cronies) if they don’t step down at inauguration? Can the military just ignore them if they want?

Republicans have shown they have no floor on what abhorrent behavior they will accept as long as it is their side doing it.

Huh, thought so. You might very well be descended from indentured servants who essentially rented themselves out to wealthy people who paid for their passage. It took on average seven years to pay off and, while whites weren't chained, bought, and sold (except for the so-called Redlegs), they couldn't just walk out of the master's house without being arrested and likely beaten.

I've found a number of whites, particularly in the South, who say "I don't care where my people came from - I'm an American!!!" (q.v. Dayton) probably suspect their ancestors were indentured and consider it a stigma.

(I'm also convinced, though I've never researched it, that a lot of the white overseers on plantations were former indentured servants who "made good.")

So you might want to stop being so cavalier about Australians, particularly because not all of the transportees were criminals, even in an age where you could be transported for petty theft.

Though it gets very hazy around that kegger in 1964, so I guess you could just cherry-pick?

Fun-fact: that's also how the guys at the kegger referred to it.

Hmm, this part about Trump's "night of the long knives" moves is worrying - I'd assumed he was just trying to get flunkies in who would support his shenanigans and - once Biden was in, he could replace them - but there might be a longer term strategy in mind (which indicates his advisors are behind it, since he's not that competent):

It's called "discussion." Also known as "casual conversation." You should Google both. Depending upon your answer, I'd have had one of several points. Is there anything about the points I have raised that disturbs you? Perhaps you'd like to ask about my ancestry, to keep the conversation going.

My response was in regards to the observation that parliamentary systems have quicker turnarounds. I do believe we could do things more quickly, but never (because we’re so exceptional) as quickly as Parliamentary governments can turn over absent significant changes in the way we handle our elections.

Laughing my fucking ass off ...

OMG. This is exactly what you accuse me of doing every fucking post I make.

For future reference. If I have a point, I will make it in that post. Any bullshit you pull out of that, is just that, your own bullshit.

This is just like the meme someone posted about trump, if you always cheat to win, you expect others to have cheated when they win. Same as the old adage, a man doesn't look under the bed unless he's been there himself.

Don't pull that bullshit on me again. Or I'll ignore your posts.

They're conditioned not to think critically like this, what makes you think they would realize the distinction?

So you never ask questions for clarification. You just bulldoze in with whatever you were going to say regardless of the subject.

That's been a de facto tradition since the beginning of our republic (remains to be seen if we can keep it). It wasn't until Trump came along that this tradition was changed (or at least challenged). This raise a question in my mind, though: is "caretaker mode" enshrined as law or do incumbent governments simply agree that they won't make any dramatic policy changes until a new government is installed? I'd hate to think a Trumpista type could decide to wreak havoc out of spite during the period while a new government gets established.

I read the thread and either respond to the thread or if there is a post in which I am unclear, I will not only ask for clarification, but also state why I asked the question. I will state my interpretation of that persons post and ask if that is the correct interpretation; and if that is not the correct interpretation, then to please clarify.
But I do not ask leading questions hoping to trap someone onto saying something they don’t mean.

No. I actually remember what was said from one post to the next. You stated that you asked that question for a reason. And when he responded, you attacked.
if you wanted to actually discuss, you would have stated plainly why you were asking the question and allow him to respond in whatever way he chose. Truth or lie. You assume he would lie, so you felt the need to trap. I assume people will tell the truth.

Republicans stopped respecting the caretaker principle at the state level since at least 2018, when lame duck Republicans rushed to limit the power of their Democrat successors.

As I've said before, I don't read every post in every thread in every forum. If @The Ghost of Crazy Horse mentioned how long his people have been in this country, I must have missed it. Perhaps you can post a link?
