Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski (R) is calling on Trump to resign.
She's also making noises about quitting the party.
“Well, you know, there’s a lot of people who actually thought that I did that in 2010, think that I became an independent. I didn’t have any reason to leave my party in 2010. I was a Republican who ran a write-in campaign and I was successful. But I will tell you, if the Republican Party has become nothing more than the party of Trump, I sincerely question whether this is the party for me,” she said.
If she does leave the Republican party and goes independent the question becomes which party she would caucus with. She and Joe Manchin are talking a lot about bipartisan initiatives. :corn:

I assume anybody who leaves their party will change who they caucus with, because the leader of the party they didn't just leave has every incentive to treat them well with regard to committee assignments, and the leader of the party they did leave has every reason not to.

You would think so, but after events of the past few years, I'm not taking any bets.

I'm sure she's as committed to leaving the party as Susan Collins was in thinking about voting for Trump.

Murkowski isn't usually as wishy-washy as Collins.

Balls. She's pulled the same waffling bullshit as Collins. She didn't even have the balls to join Mitt in voting for impeachment.

Long term. She got away with it on the impeachment (Alaska is Sarah Palin territory). We'll see what plays out.

Donald J. Trump's Presidential legacy will now always be:

    - Was one of only 3 U.S. Presidents in the history of the country to be Impeached (It should have been 4, but Nixon resigned before he was Inpeached -- and he would have been.)

    - The ONLY U.S. President to not concede after he lost a fairly conducted Federal election

    - The ONLY U.S. President who's campaign and political party filed 60 court cases across various Federal and state jurisdictions (and three Supreme Court cases); alleging various forms of massive election fraud; but failed to present any credible evidence of such - and only got ONE favorable ruling on a batch of ballots that, even if all claims were true about that batch of ballots - would not have altered the result in that state in any way.

    - The only US President recorded on an hour+ long phone call DEMANDING the GA secretary of state, call the certified election results invalid, and "find enough votes" to be able to claim Donald J. Trump and not Joe Biden won the state.

    - The only US President to openly call (on Twitter and other social and standard media) for his supporters to show up at the U.S. Capitol on January 6 with instructions to stop the certification of Joe Biden's election as the next President of the U.S.; and when they stormed the Capitol building and ENTERED both Chambers of Congress (something which had never happened since 1814 when the British invaded - DID NOT SEND IN A MILITATY ASSISTENCE TO SECURE THE BUILDING.
    ^^^
I's sorry, but exactly what 'Presidential Legacy' is there left for Donald J. Trump to protect? What occurred Wednesday afternoon and into the evening on 1/6/2020; and Trump's incitement of it and inaction towards it as it was occurring has utterly DESTROYED Donald J. Trump's Presidential legacy for all time.

I wouldn't say it has destroyed his legacy. I would say it has shown openly to the whole world what that legacy is and has been since he took office: he is an incompetent liar whose only concern is for his own personal advantage. Anyone who didn't see that in 2016 was extremely naive. Anyone who didn't see it in 2020 was willfully blind.

Trump incited people to revolt when he thought it could get him something, then denounced those who did his bidding when he thought it was in his personal interest to do so. All of his actions in the last few days, and indeed in the two months since the election, have been entirely consistent with what so many of us knew about him since before he became president.

So there really is no "legacy" to destroy, unless you consider "widely considered to be the very worst president in American history, utterly unfit to hold the office, and doing immense harm to America's people, institutions and prestige through his inability to care about anyone but himself" a legacy.

Yup. I've considered for a while that Trump wouldn't actually be remembered that much as a president 50 years from now when there's a generation that wasn't around to witness him in the news every day.

Even the pandemic response is one of those things that I think will end up not being especially notable to someone listing what they know about US presidents off the top of their head in the future.

His final days though? They've now cemented his place in the minds of people not yet born as the president that tried to burn democracy to the ground.

I used to say Trump's love of twitter would get him in trouble. Now I'm saying phones are getting him in trouble. He should take a well deserved break and go golfing or something.

I would say trump's Olympian self-worship and sociopathy are what got him in trouble. That and he's a fucking moron.

He golfed almost as much in a single year as Obama did in his whole two terms, enriching himself in the process.

He played golf almost as much as he played you and your people.

Old Lady Rottencrotch sure does put a lot of energy into hating me and jenee.

I don't know why she hates us so much. We just point out the truth to her and she melts down like trump being banned from twitter.

You forgot loser. I understand he won the presidency, but you have to climb that high to lose that much. He was just making room for the most epic fail ever. In his glory he has choreographed thousands of followers with him. Best dumpster fire ever!

I'm certain I still have PMs of her complaining about Tamar trying to be the queen bee around here. Now that Tamar has left this world, it seems garamet wants that title. Whatever, if that makes her happy, let her. I don't care.

WF needs a queen bee and she does a good job at it. She is annoying, high and mighty, and henpecks people into doing things her way. Sounds cool to me, but I just wouldn't want to be @Faceman . He is like one of the old guys in the communities around here who's wife just keeps pecking and pecking him until he sort of just keeps quiet and only lets out a few wimpering words now and again. It is a little sad. Even worse is how @Ten Lubak so totally wants the position face is in.

Actually, those two are usually in cahoots, except when they turn on each other. Perhaps you can explain what that has to do with your incessant "Everybody's picking on meeee! :sob:."
