Oil squillionaires crying about 2 billion is like a guy with a wad of hundreds chasing a rolling quarter down the street, and bawling when it falls into a sewer grate.
These people are fucking diseased hoarders.

Eh, I’m not going to lose sleep over it. We shouldn’t be picking winners and losers in the market anyway.

Isn't that what Fearless Leader is doing when he cuts environmental regulations to prop up the coal industry?

persuasive intel? If it takes ten seconds to get anybody to realize that there is ZERO chance that the Taliban would ever stay on script, that's about five seconds too long.

Yeah, so why doesn't anybody on the right care that Trump signed a deal that gave up 5,000 Taliban prisoners on their promise to play nice?

From Trump and the establishment dems it is a good idea. The shale oil companies are keeping gasoline prices down in the US. That is keeping power to their people, and that is where their money is. As much as I do not like it, it is what they are going to do. The only way people have power against it is to have government regulation. That means getting out and voting against it, and we see where that ends up.

Sure was a great deal wasn't it? I'm sure that kind of detail wouldn't matter if Obama had made the deal.

Isn’t normal procedure to release prisoners when ending hostilities?

I've never complained about Obama's military decisions. I may be wrong but the deal hinges on the Taliban behaving themselves first - which is not likely. Also different factions of the Afghan government are weighing in on this too, so it's not as simplistic a deal as you seem to make it out to be. But hey, if you have detailed classified info that the rest of us don't have please share it with the class.

It depends upon the prisoners. I will avoid the easy Godwin comment, and instead reference more recent history. When the UK and the IRA worked out their deal, very stringent conditions were put upon who could be released and how they could remain free. One of them, and @RickDeckard might know who they are, was jailed for an assassination attempt on Margret Thatcher (a hotel bomb). As part of his release, if any terrorist activity from the IRA occurred, he would find his ass back in jail. There do not seem to be similar conditions with the Taliban.

Even more recently, both the Bush and Obama administrations have said that there are people being held in Gitmo who are connected to the Taliban/AQ that can never be released, even though we can't really charge them with a crime.

All that being said, had a Democratic President (Obama or Hillary) announced a similar deal, the Republicans would be burning them in effigy as we speak. There are even Republican members of Congress who question the deal.
Ignoring issues of partisanship (because they will be flung no matter who does or says what), there are things which need to happen in relation to a peace deal with the Taliban that I cannot see any administration attempting, even though those are the only things which would lead to lasting peace in the region. Given Trump's willingness to accept hollow comments like those made by Kim Il Jung, I'm particularly dubious that he's made the right call here.

so do you honestly not expect the stock market to dive considering taking measures limiting commerce & spending and employment & wages (that many on the left say aren't strict enough) greatly affects the economy? So what would your ideal president do?

The point is that according to Trump, when the market goes up, it's always because of him...but when the market goes down it's always somebody else's fault. You can't have it both ways.

Trump as the laziest American President ever has gained more steam in the past few weeks. He doesn’t want to be in front of the cameras discussing coronavirus so he passes that off to Pence. Then he can’t even be bothered to negotiate a stimulus deal with Pelosi so he passes that off to Mnuchin. Does this guy do anything besides play golf and watch Fox News?

President Reagan accepted full responsibility for the Iran- contra scandal today, saying he is “ultimately accountable to the American people” and should not have been shielded by aides from what was happening.
