Yes, death rates in Hiroshima at 08:14 on August 6th 1945 weren't out of the ordinary either.

I guess you could consider that a temporary "spike" in the death rate, yes.

Do not let your glorious leader know a nuclear blast would kill COVID all through the bodies of the people burned into the pavement. He would wonder why haven't the doctors thought about using the US nuclear arsenal to eliminate COVID. I am pretty sure high levels of nuclear radiation would kill COVID deep within a person like shining UV light inside of our lungs.

You and your glorious leader are a fucking joke.

They should keep repairing him and charge tourists an extra $20 to give the Trump figure one punch in the face.

Pretty sure the profits would outweigh the restoration costs. I'm also pretty sure that a lot of folks would pay for more than just one punch.

Hell, I might even visit San Antonio.

This is your party, Republicans, telling any of you (a very large percentage of Republican voters) who believed the claims about massive voter fraud that you are not "reasonable people". That's not the Democrats telling you that. It's one of Trump's lawyers.

And at the same time, she is clearly saying that Donald Trump is either a blatant liar (if he doesn't really believe those claims) or dismally stupid (if he does).

When you defend yourself by calling the voters in your own party stupid, and implying that their gold-plated idol is just as stupid as they are, you have gone beyond cynicism. You are showing that you think your party's voters are so stupid they will accept anything, including being called stupid.

I am wondering if there enough facepalms in the whole world to convey how completely absurd this is?

It is a little more tap-dancey than straight-up admitting that these things were lies.

Her lawyers are taking the position that what she was putting forth were not to be considered "facts" as in things that could be objectively verifiable, but opinions that would be tested out through the adversarial process of the court system.

In other words, their position is not "No reasonable person would have believed us when we said that Dominion rigged the election, and therefore we should be protected," but rather "No reasonable person would have understood us to be expressing our opinion that Dominion rigged the election as fact, and opinions are protected, so the suit should be dismissed."

For reasons that should be obvious, that is a BS position, but what other alternatives do they have ?

To briefly reiterate the response from the other thread, yes, even if we were in the crazytown legal universe where "It's my opinion a fact is true" could shield someone from a defamation claim as to whether or not the underlying fact is true, she has also stated as fact that she had proof of the claim and that in of itself is a fact for which she could be accountable.

Is that clearly on record, in published or recorded statements, so there is no way she can wiggle out of it? If so, then there is no way her "defense" makes any sense at all, except to mean what it appears to mean: "No one should have taken this seriously (including the claim that there was 'proof') and anyone who did is not a reasonable person."

Of course, to be perfectly honest, I agree that no reasonable person ever should have taken it seriously (I would even go as far as saying that no reasonable person did), but knowing how many unreasonable people there are out there, it's pretty easy to demonstrate that her claims did indeed do measurable harm to Dominion.

Actually, it looks like she never alleged "Dominion did shady things" in a lawsuit, according to a NYT story I just read. I have to imagine that at some point she claimed to have proof of the claim that Dominion did shady things.

But the litany of things she has said, according to a just superficial glance at the lawsuit, which you can see here:

She had evidence including declarations from conspiracy people
She had a video of Dominion's founder saying he could change "a million votes, no problem at all"
She was compelling overwhelming evidence that Dominion software was being used to switch votes
Georgia officials were part of the Dominion scam.
