I don't mind 'Bick' at all, because there's no specific connotative difference between 'Bick' and 'Bickendan' (and if there were, I'd literally be the only person that would know). There is a difference between 'Chris' and 'Christopher'
So I should have just accepted being bullied by the liberals into voting for Hillary? Sorry, force that guilt-trip on somebody stupid enough to fall for it. I'm not blaming you, it's the brain washers who gave you the kool-aid. Then again you have to be willing (and believe in it) to be hypnotized so there's plenty of blame to go around. I'm not buying that the liberals are so much fucking smarter than me that they need to save me from my own self-destructive (and nation-destructive!) two minutes in the voting booth. Maybe if the Democratic party weren't so busy congradulating themselves on how fucking superior they are, they would have actually ran a non-criminal candidate (assuming they have one) against Trump. And maybe if the Dems had not listened to their own left-leaning yes-men media and pollsters so much and actually gave a shit about working people instead of mocking them they would be in the winner's circle instead of curled up in the fetal position with a stalled car. Strange you liberals are somehow smart enough to predict the nation's future and it's all "gloom & doom" but you couldn't catch on that the largest voting block is sick of your bullshit and was going to kick you to the curb. Guess all those college educations might have a few holes in them that need patching. Better luck next time!
*oldfella and Diacanu standing beside each other at the same concentration camp* oldfella- ...okay, I'm not saying you were right, and I still wouldn't have voted Hillary, but.... Diacanu-
Judging just from this place, Trump supporters remain a group of petty, insecure children even in victory. It's so hilarious to see the ones promising to come out guns blazing against Hillary now so contemptuous of peaceful protesters.
Have you heard the good news? Redemption for all! Hillary's cruel defeat and sacrifice brings peace and salvation to all mankind. Now go and say 30 Heil Trumps.
Yeah, well I think it's time for some naval gazing. A lot of people, including me, assumed that half the country couldn't be stupid enough to vote for Trump just because they didn't like Hillary. I'm starting to think that Hillary's corruption/criminality/baby sacrifices might not have played as much a part as @gturner would have us believe. I'm starting to think that a lot of people got tired of being talked down to. Additionally, maybe everyone being laser focused on how to help the poor minorities out, the poor majority got ignored.
Oh, and has anyone else noticed how often the Trump campaign has referred to their win as "historic?" I thought that used to be a bad word around there... I guess the right is just excited about their new "novelty president."
I liked a comment on this UK Independent article about crying lefties demanding that Hillary be sworn in anyway. "I love being called a white privileged cisgendered hetero scumbag racist sexist by braying feminist swamp donkeys and third-rate US bloggers every day."
Trump's ideas had a lot deeper traction than the Left realizes. Trump himself doesn't have that much more name recognition or "celebrity" than the FLOTUS/Senator/SOS (except Trump's name is synonymous with hard work and success as the Clinton name is to corruption, greed and scandal). I think you're definitely on the right track, but I'd say most people were voting for Trump, not against Hitlerie. Otherwise, people would have voted against Hussein too.
Rural America's been ignored for decades, yeah. But I also think the support base for Obama still refused to accept Clinton. I don't say this to mean it's a bad thing, just that she had a lot more "She's not Trump" votes than he got "He's not Clinton", and such apathy doesn't win elections. Ask John Kerry.
No. Pay attention. It's like Shooter. When conservatives controlled the board, he made conservative posts. But after the putsch, his True Colors were revealed. Bick has drank the FlavorAde.
The interesting thing is that after a particularly nasty campaign Trump himself has very much done a u-turn in terms of verbal rhetoric. He called for Americans to come together. He made the effort to spend time with Obama at length and then behave surprisingly respectfully thereafter. He has since indicated that he may retain key elements of Obamacare. There are a whole host of reasons why he could've changed tact, but the point is that it's particularly ironic that one of the most divisive figures in the history of American politics is himself now talking of unity and co-operation, and yet them people who swept him to power are still hell bent on sowing the seeds of division. Like I've said already in the past few days, the most damning thing about all this is not so much Trump himself, it's the people who put him in the Oval Office. Just take the ones on this board. They're all about petty point scoring. From years here we know that hardly any of them are capabale of substantial, robust debate and the crowing has all been about the victory, with very little, if any, discussion of which policies of Trump's they like to see come to pass (probably because they didn't even know half of them).
Chup, this young man channeled my psyche and expressed my reaction to you re: your feelings after the US election better than I could ever say to you:
Are you trying to show chup was correct? Because you just showed exactly what he claimed. Maybe I missed something and you were just assisting him with his point in which case carry on.
Really? Is this all that you have? A refusal to engage in a discussion on why your opinion is correct or has merit? You're better than this; you're not going to convince me -- or anyone else -- that I'm a bonafide liberal as opposed to a left-leaning centrist if you refuse to persuade us of this with facts, observations and examples.
This is the hilarious thing about these morons. I've said many times I'm centre right (centre left by American standards) yet always it's "lefty and liberal" and other such labels from these idiots because they will not, and cannot, engage in intellectual discourse so to they, anything that is not their position = raging lefty. It's why I have said many times on here over the past year that political conservatism in America is dead. Those who have jumped on the word conservative really have no clue what it means, and think it's all about guns, being against abortion and various forms of stealth bigotry (such as stereotypical whining about "SJWs" and political correctness). But that's not what it's about at all.
Good point about being talked down to and ignored. And if (as a white working class male) you dare open your mouth to complain or offer an opinion you are jumped on as out of line because of your default "white privilege". The left champion themselves as being "tolerant" but many (not all) are the most intolerant people of all! But hey, they are showing their true colors now. Over the past few years we have all heard "the world is watching" and guess what folks? The world is watching right fucking now too. Granted MELTDOWN 2016 will be interpreted and spun 100 different ways by 100 different people which is to be expected. So now I'm going to sum up the election results exactly like 2008 and 2012 were summed up to me: YOUR SIDE LOST- GET OVER IT! Obviously there is more to it, but the liberals actually thought the conservatives were making a big deal about not "getting their way" but now that the shoe is on the other foot it's MELTDOWN 2016 in full force.
FUCK ME RUNNING! Peaceful protesters are one thing. Everyone here convinced me that I should lay off the protesters and they were right. But when a protest turns into a RIOT that riot needs to be shut down. I haven't watched the news yet - has Obama (still in charge) got on TV and told the protesters to get their shit together? I know he's busy transitioning with Trump but it is the weekend so I doubt they are working 24/7 on it - take a break and tell your fellow liberals to get a grip. Yes MELTDOWN 2016 is very entertaining, but we have to draw the line at violence. Correct me if I'm wrong (I don't know the entire liberal dogma) but I think violence & vandalism is frowned upon by all good citizens regardless of political leanings.
No doubt if people had the same enthusiasm for Clinton as they did for Obama she would have won. I saw some people crunching the numbers and the math supported a Hillary win but it didn't materialize. I've said this before - in the privacy of a voting booth, you vote your conscience - you vote for a person. Obama is a good person - Hillary has a lot of bad baggage, Obama did not. Trump is in all actuality a "blank slate." Cue up all the jokes about his intellect! But seriously, the election was hers to lose - she accepted defeat gracefully and with dignity and I salute her for that.
"they will not, and cannot, engage in intellectual discourse so to they, anything that is not their position = raging lefty". El Chup are you fucking kidding me? Change that last part to = raging righty. The left (the group in the US version of the left) are the most bullying patronizing petty of the two mindsets. You would have to live here 24/7 to really understand that. Not to belittle your part in the discussion of US politics (which does indeed impact the rest of the world) but maybe spending a few years as an "undercover" US citizen and living in a variety of US locations and then you might get a better idea of how things really are.
