Oh, please. These days, anything short of constant, effortless bliss is a "condition. " Any chance to avoid accountability for one's own choices becomes the definitive diagnosis. Choosing to do a bunch of hard drugs and get violent in public is now a "mental health crisis." The internet is arming people with excuses and rationalizations to evade responsibility for their laziness, lack of self-control and overall shitty conduct.

Like your refusal to accept blame for the bad impression you leave everyone with.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but no, I am not responsible for your choice to take offense.

Then it's your choice to fume with loathing all goddamned day.
You could be a happier person, but you choose misery.
See how easy that was to admit?

Not true! I cycle through the full range of emotions in a day. Annoyance, frustration, anger (contained), anger (not contained), berserk rage, all the way back to simmering, malevolent contempt.

We can't do a full diagnosis until you clarify how much of those are aimed at yourself.

I'm betting the ratio is out of whack.

Oh no, bullshitter. "Offense" is not "harm," no matter how many 20 year old screechbags insist they can only feel "safe" if people they dislike are prevented from saying things they don't want to hear.

We've been through this. Canada has a law on the books, and there are teachers here imposing it on students. You don't get to wish that out of existence just because your programming cannot contend with it.

I'm offended by drunk driving. Therefore, drunk driving never causes harm. Got it. Thanks for the logic lesson, Alan Turing.

Interesting, I had never heard of this and I go all the time to a place down the road from this restaurant called Smittys, they've got great crab legs

Anyways after reading about the decision here it seems the person had requested to staff and management to use their preferred pronouns, and even took into account that there would be some mistakes made and accepted that, and afterwards while some people had no problem with that - which is probably the right thing to do - other people (including management) decided to go full on dickhead and purposefully misgender the complainant. Eventually they got fired, filed with the human rights tribunal and won the judgement

So there's an element of fuck around and find out here, these people chose to be assholes. Personally I don't know why you'd purposefully choose to make a work environment uncomfortable like that, but I'm a professional. If I was the employer - and I am an employer - I probably would have fired or suspended the people trying to make this person's life shittier than it needs to be

They did suggest using gender neutral language for the restaurant’s guests, rather than addressing tables as “ladies” or “guys.” That I disagree with, not their decision to make and is overstepping big time

The human rights tribunals we have here in Canada are a bit of a joke, after all these are the same tribunals that actually chose to hear a case of a trans woman who filed suit against waxing parlors because they refused wax her dick and balls. They eventually made the right decision and sided with the wax parlors but it shouldn't have even been heard in the first place

At the end of the day though we do have laws in place here that add protections to the LBGTwhatever community and that's not really a bad thing. It doesn't threaten anyone unless you really want to make the choice to go out of your way and be an asshole. I don't have a problem calling someone "they" or whatever if they ask. Do you?

"Hurt feelings" is not the sole definition of "offense." Also, yes, hurting someone's feelings is harm. Claiming one is not responsible for harm is entirely different than arguing said harm didn't happen.

Seems like "communicating effectively" are on your long list of things that aren't your responsibility.

Banana carburetor existential field mouse. It's your responsibility to figure out what that means, not mine.
