The amount of the sun that will be covered depends on where you are. In Portadown I should be getting about 90%. Here is what it will look like from my hometown (speeded up): Maximum is at about 9:30 AM.
Very funny Chup The sky is actually clear right now and the sun is shining. Fingers crossed. I've set up a time lapse on an old smartphone...
Great shots, Dan. I'm impressed by how dark it seems in the pictures. I've only witnessed one total eclipse, but it was the anular variety, so there was still a fair amount of light due to the large corona. These pictures showing only a partial eclipsing have a much darker sky. Were you using a filter?.
I was kinda surprised to read that the eclipse may have impacted the power grid, especially in Germany. link How'd that work out, @Packard ?
No problem whatsoever as far as I can tell, or is on the news. I'd be very surprised, too. It's not as if we get outages whenever it's cloudy, and this isn't substantially different.
I hear the Faroe Islands is the place to be for this event. You could make a vacation out of it an enjoy their supposedly best in the world langoustines. In Vegas they sell those things for $30 a pound.
http://www.departures.com/lifestyle/food/worlds-best-langoustines There is also a documentary on it. One of these days I am going to go to Paul Bartolotta's restaurant and have a plate of those things.
Do you notice how it was changed to agree before you ever posted that? Apply Occum's Razor here, dude.
Hmm, it is possible it was accidentally tapped while I was scrolling down the page. I like Packard but not enough to neg anyone on purpose.
