Covering to me would mean that they support what he did.

I don't think they are explaining it, despite Clyde's protest that they not speak for him. I think they are repudiating it, and rightly so.

By the standard upon which I was booted off the "staff", Clyde should be a mod no more. But I guess he licks more boots than me.....

In addition to the above, I'd also point out that in the past day Clyde has made a concerted effort to mock the legitimate concerns of several board members in the Red Room because he thinks that if he doesn't like someone that is a good enough excuse to treat them like shit. While this may not be a breach of rules, it is certainly conduct unbecoming a mod.

The very same Lanzman sacked me from the modship for less behavior. When I was a mod my crimes were arguing with Mewa and boxing up a few Dayton threads in Media Central. In contrast, Cylde personally shits allover the membership and nothing happens....much like the routine complaints about Tamar go untouched.

Lanzman himself s a joke now. He obviously doesn't care about this place. To him it's a casual waste. Any problem? He wades into a thread in here and makes a flippant remark and then fucks off for days on end while the boards ceases to function.

I came into the thread to try and calm everyone down as well as try as best I could to diffuse a rightly bad situation. Would you guys rather that I NOT do this? The other option would've been just to ignore this thread until Clyde came to answer it.

As for modship, I got called out by Lanz for making the Drama Queen comment in a rep, and told to remove it, so speaking for myself, there is at least some accountability.

What in my reply would give you that impression? Clyde was failing at one of his mod duties (explaining his action) and you guys stepped up and tried to cover for him. That's a good thing.

$corp, I appreciate both yours and Tamar's efforts. Clyde clearly screwed the pooch on this, and you guys have indicated agreement. I'm glad to see it isn't just posters who see the problem. But I think there is a level of frustration for some of us that Clyde isn't accountable for his mistake. He will neither apologize nor offer justification for calling chup a troll. This is a major failure on Clyde's part, and it's unfortunate that admins, while sympathetic, apparently lack the power to do anything. How many more times must Clyde troll by modship before something is actively done about it?

I see that Clyde has posted multiple times since Tamar's post above yet still hasn't explained what the personal attacks were, and worst still, is continuing to try and mock those who have dared to ask for clarification on this point. Such refusal to fulfill a basic duty of a moderatorship surely renders his position untenable?

Indeed. A culture has been fostered where mods can do whatever they like because they know they will not be removed or sanctioned. Claude's disgusting behaviour speaks volumes not just about him, but the whole setup.

I say we draft a resolution in the Red Room to admonish his behavior and demand he be placed on paid administrative leave until his union representative and his employer meet to discuss his future here.

It's pretty clear he won't/can't. The question is whether he knows he fucked up, but is too arrogant to acknowledge this, or whether he legitimately doesn't see it. Neither speaks well for him as a staff member.

The red room thread should've been merged and the MC one reopened.
At least, that's what I would've done back when I was one of the two XO's around here. Probably would've made an explanatory post to reinstate MC rules and admitted "we" fucked up.
