No, the message was purposefully obtuse, and was written in that way specifically to generate an argument over what he meant. I didn't take the threat seriously last night. Like Tamar, I know quite a bit more about what happened in the incidents he describes, and his telling is largely fiction. That said, the ban is well earned. His posting over the last several days has been the verbal equivalent of Skrain's porn spamming. We put up with a lot of shit from members here, but somebody in the midst of a full blown mental break down spewing hundreds of paragraphs of diarrhea needs a vacation.

Well, he's not...and Castle himself has just been warned for abusing personal info, so he's hardly in a position to claim the moral high ground (not that I am condoning the use of unrevealed personal info, but still).

Why are you putting so much energy into defending him, or is this more about disagreeing with the board runners for the sake of it? That's exactly the same shit you were admonishing them for a few days back.

Castle was abundantly clear that he reserved the right to cause problems in the future. You can play semantics, but it's quite obvious what he said in his post. We all know that he's about as capable of causing trouble as I am of winning a Samuel L. Jackson lookalike competition. But if you ignore the threat from him, that sets a precedent that you tolerate it from others as well. Albeit it for different reasons, Castle has had three friendly warnings and a full warning lately for his conduct, albeit two were for trolling outside of the Red Room and others for the abuse of personal info. But all came about as a result of this latest round of hysterical behaviour he is exhibiting and it's that behaviour that's causing the problems. In my opinion a short term ban is in order if for no other reason than to force him to take a break here. What's sad is that the man is clearly a desperately unhappy individual in real life and he depends on communities like this for attention and interaction. That's why he'd never try and take it down. I've always said, I view Castle with nothing more and nothing less then tremendous pity. I think he comes across as a very sad individual. I just wish there was a way we could actually properly help him, but I suppose there isn't much chance of that when a person refuses to look at their own conduct, no matter how many people it drives away. He's a bit like Dayton in that respect.

Incidentally, his profile doesn't show him as banned.

Incidently, what was the event at the other board and why are people dancing around actually saying what it is?

Isn't it the owner's prerogative to act on a threat to the board when he gets one?

Horses for courses. Castle's Meltdowns are for more entertaining than his usual contributions, where he sits there like a sad arse posting rambling garbage in multiple threads.

If anything, this has been a charity service, giving the man the much needed attention he seeks.

I haven't used personal info in years. People change. One of the biggest problems here is that people still hold onto shit from many years ago, and even then I only used personal info once when my own was being abused and I was manipulated into biting. I resolved a long time ago now not to use info that hasn't already be revealed and haven't been manipulated into doing so since.

As much as I think Castle is a tool, Chardman's posts are uniquely unseemly. "Deservedly abused child," indeed.

I appreciate the actual advice about writing that garamet and a few others provided. Castle's ban is, in my opinion, well-deserved. Is it just temporary or is he gone for good?

There's no way Castle would have started this thread without realizing that the trolling would begin almost immediately. Which it did, with Ten Lubeass in post #8 followed by Phoenix in post #13.

The only logical conclusion is that he was openly inviting it, and the anti-Castle posse didn't disappoint.

I love that fact that the Castle defenders can't quite bring themselves to actually defend him but use his "unfair" treatment as a reason to pick on totally unrelated people.

I don't think he's done anything "wrong," and I would further argue that in this artificial online reality it's not possible to do "wrong." My opinion is that this is all performance art, remember? Ancalagon's hyperventilating about Castle "threatening the board and it's membership" and his Dirty Harry routine were as moronic as Castle's rantings.

Ancalagon's problem is that he revealed himself a long time ago as a constipated martinet who takes himself and this place far too seriously.

I am more than a little ashamed of myself, but Castle is kind of a special case, because the act he puts on is so fucking annoying, particularly when one knows even a little of the truth about the guy. He invites attack; so I gotta figure he must somehow thrive on it.

For the record, I think the ban is a mistake, but it is clear that it is nearly pointless to try to get Anc to change his mind on something and Castle has bit the hand that feeds him enough times that almost no one will go to bat for him.
