Nintendo does make some sturdy stuff. Using more modest tech allows them that luxury. I remember my neighbor somehow dropped a Rumble pack for an N64 controller outside when he was coming back from my house. He couldn't find it since he didn't realize he dropped it outside in the snow. He found it after the winter and it still worked!
