That's always been my impression. Flat Earthers don't really BELIEVE in a flat earth.

No, it's not hard to tell. This website has been famous since before I got on the web. It's always been known as a massive hoax.

It does have a real flavor to it -- the earnestness and the elaborate scientific-sounding rationalizations are reminiscent of the stuff you sometimes hear from Creationists. But I think it's more just a geeky way of having fun by seeing how convincing a case you can make for something completely ludicrous.
